The Mahabharat
Bhagvan Ved Vyas the celebrated compiler of the Vedas was the son of the
great Sage Parashara. It was he who gave to the world the divine epic of the Mahabharata.

Having conceived the Mahabharata he thought of the means of giving the sacred story of the world. He meditated on Brahma, the creator, who manifested himself before him, Vyas soluted him with bowed head and folded hands and prayed.

“Lord I have conceived an excellent work, but cannot think at one who can take it down to my dictation.”

Brahma extolled Vyas and said, “O Sage invoke Ganapati. Who appeared before him. Vyasa received him with due respect and sought his aid.

“Lord Ganapati, I shall dictate the story of Mahabharata and I pray you to be graciously pleased to write it down.

Ganapati replied “Vey well, I shall do as you wish. But my pen must not stop while I am writing. So you must dictate without pause or hesitation. I can only write on this condition. Ved Vyas acceded to the terms of Lord Ganesh but with his own terms consequently “Be it so, but you must first grasp the meaning of what I dictate before you write it down. Terms were accepted and the scribing of Mahabharata began.

The first stanza, being the praise of Lord Ganesa, was easily assimilated. But difficulty arose from the next stanzas to understand the real meaning of which, the Lord of knowledge had to abandon his pen, pause, and then begin to scribe when he fully understood the real meaning of the Mahabharata stanza. Leaving apart other difficulties such as an eternal existed like Lord Ganesha accepting the request of Vyas to become his writer, one in not able to understand why Ganesha the Lord of Knowledge could not easily understood the meaning of the Vyas stanzas which is easily understood by child even today. This clearly means that the great poet Vyas wants to convey us through this story that the real meaning of his immortal work is not so easy to understand unless and until a person elevates himself to the level of Lord Ganesha, the Lord of knowledge, a knowledge itself.

It was before the days of printing, when the memory of the learned was the sole repository of books. Vyas first thought the great epic to his son the sage Suka, later; he expounded it to many other deciples. Were it not so, the book might have been lost to future generations. Tradition has it that Narada told the story of the Mahabharata to the Devas while Suka taught it to the Gandharvas, the Rakshasas and the Yakshas.

The chief disciples of VyasVaisampayana” revealed the epic for the benefit of humanity. Janamejaya, the son of the great king Parikshit, conducted a great sacrifice in the course of which Vaisampayana narrated the story at the request of the Janmanjaya. Afterwards this story was recited by suta to the assembly of sages, to teach humanity dharma and the other ends of life.

The real meaning of Mahabharata and consequently of Gita is something else than what we think normally.

T
he Bhagvad Gita

The most important part of the Mahabharata is the Bhagavad-Gita. It is a marvelous dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna on the battlefield, before the commencement of the Great War. Bhagavan Sri Krishna became the charioteer of Arjuna. Sri Krishna explained the essentials of Hindu religion to Arjuna. Just as the Upanishads contain the cream of the Vedas, so does the Gita contain the cream of the Upanishads.

Arjuna saw before him his dear relatives and teachers in the battlefield. He fainted and refused to fight against them. Then Lord Krishna imparted knowledge of the Self to Arjuna and convinced him that it was his duty to fight regardless of the consequences. Afterwards Arjuna gave up his Moha, or delusion. All his doubts were cleared. He fought against the Kauravas and achieved victory.

Message delivered by God himself removes vacillation from the minds of man who are unsteady and who feel lost in the world. The Gita is in corporate in the Mahabharata which in itself is a masterpiece containing valuable doctrine applicable for all time to come.

The epic reflected the firmness of the five brothers (The Pandavas) is declining to deviate from the path of virtue even in the make of the worst adversities. Their zeal to uphold righteousness will install faith in the modern man that where one follows the normal codes, he is bound to succeed. Secondly, it is God’s story as we find him acting as a guide to the good souls. Devotion will spring in us when we see how the Lord extended his support to these men wedded to the good cause. The third aspect of this monumental poem relates to the behavior of evil men. Those causing hindrance to the Pandavas were their cousins- the Kaurvas who symbolize evil. The story refers to the constant confrontation between the right and the wrong. The humble and the arrogant, the pious and the malicious.

We shall be required to ascend the highest ladders of the deep science of Yoga to understand the reality about Mahabharata and Bhagad-Gita. Let us preview the very first stanza of Bhavad-Gita under this Ganesh aspect of knowledge.

Mine and the sons of Pandu have gathered with the urge of fighting and Dharmashetra a land of personal religion and also a Kurukshetra a land of action thereto, O Sanjaya, what happened thence? Said Dhritrashtra

The meaning of stanza is simple if we encounter the same as a historical record. But one is not able to understand, why poet Vyas has given two proper nouns to one and the same battlefield. The reason should be somewhat deeper. First we shall have to know who is Dhritrashtra and his family members, here we shall have to take the help of Eshvasypanished which reveals us the meaning of Dhritrashtra and others.

Dhritrastra

Dhritrastra
has been shown as the nominal king of Hastinapur (Physical Frame) . But he is all the while dominated by his elder son Duryodhan here “Duha” means bad, “Yodha” means adament fighting tendency. Duryodhan means an adament, bad tendency, ready to fight with one’s won good impulses, and his brothers too such as Dushsana, Durvishaka, Durmata, Dushvarna, Durmarsha, Dussaha, Durdhava etc. “Rastra” means our body while “Ehrit” means the owner. In this way every person is Dhritrastra. But the Dhritrastra of Gita is blind to his own spiritual gains and is dominated by his Duryodhana tendencies. Not to have settlement of his own, Pandva. That means higher impulses. The struggle for existence of impulses begins on the field of tendencies, which is termed as “Dharmakshetra” by Ved Vyasa. Tendencies are the out come of continued cultivation’s on a person who begets them through prone deeds helped by alike interests. The field of deeds is also our body. Hence Vyas calls the same battlefield as Dharmakshetra as well as Kurukshetra. Dharma means permanent mould of cultivation while ‘Kuru’ means to do deeds. Thus the fight begins on Dharmakshetra and Kurukshetra, ‘Kuru’ the forefather of Kauravas, has been shown as the king of ‘Kurudesh’, where he used to till his land himself. Will a king till his own land instead of asking his servants to do the same? But every ‘Kuru’ has to till his own land or farm. Gita tells about this ‘Keshetra’ or farm in the first stanza of chapter thirteen as follows:

‘O’ Kanteya this physical frame is called as Kshetra’ or farm and the owner of this field is called as “Kshetrajnya.”

King Kuru was thus the tiller of his physical body and the kaurvas were his descenders.

Literally a “Kurukshetra” war takes place daily in our minds. When we desire to undertake a noble deed. There will be forces to prevent us from carrying out the same. For instance we may be inclined to observe the compulsory daily religious austerities but suddenly, lethargy may force us to postpone them on the plea that nothing will be loss if they are observed after a day or two. This is a tussle between virtue and vice. Ultimately the latter perishes.

Gandhari -has been shown as the wife of Dhritrastra, the blind king of Hastinapur. Gandhari was very loyal to her husband and hence she also covered her eyes with a band , not to see alike her husband. The eshawasyopnishad again says about Gandhari.

Those who follow others blindly go to deeper stages of darkness and remain there long. Thus Gandhari was following her blind husband tendency under the grabs of loyalty and refuse to see the light of knowledge given to her through the eyes of reason.

Hundred Kaurwas Kaurwas, the sons of blind Dhritrastra have been shown hundred in number of which the names begin with bad adjective ‘Duhu’ bad tendencies are innumerous that means hundred. Like Dushasana, Durvishaka, Durmata, Dusherna, Durmarsha, Dussaha, and Duryodhana.

The down fall of unbalanced person occurs through hundred channels such hundred channels of downfall are the bad impulses or sons of Dritrastra, the blind father of the Kaurwas.

Pandvas - Pandvas are the five sons of ‘Pandu’ which means good arrangement of knowledge. The word Pandit has been derived from this word Pandu. And who is Pandit Gita says “Panditah samdarshirah” such were the good balanced son-impulses of Pandu which were five in number, Why five? Five ‘Paranas’ of which ‘Dharma’ (yudhishtirar) is the eldest. Dharma means the mould of cumulative good impulses prone to evolution. ‘Bhim’ was the second, Bhim means strength, intelligence, & valor we incase terrible strength. If we are loyal to our own Dharma. Bhim was the strongest. Then comes ‘Arjuna’ he was the best archer who know where to shoot his arrow. Again the Upanishads say about such divine archers like Ram and Arjuna…. pranawa is the bow while Atman is the arrow to be radiated at the target of Brahma. Personal efforts and dedication were with Arjuna Nakul and Sahdeva stands for integrity & humility.

Lord Krishna – The Upanishads again elevates out intelligence to the stage of Bhagwan Gopal Krishna who readily accepts to drive the chariot of Arjun on the battle.

The Atman is the owner of the chariot, the body is the chariot, intelligence is the charioteer, and mind is the rein. Lord Krishna is therefore the guide of the Pandwas who are definite to get victory in the eternal way of tendencies. Gita says about such victory.

Divine wealth and victory is definitely to that side in which Yogeshwar Krishna, the intelligence super, skillfully drives the chariot of Arjuna, the divine archer, shooting his arrow of Atman, towards the final target of Brahma.

1. Who am I?
2. Why am I here?
3. What am I to do?
4. What is the use of this life?
5. We are borne. Why?
6. Where Did I come from?
7. Where am I going?
8. When I die where will I go? --

1. Who am I ?-
We are part of the One Existence which men call God, We are divine in our origin and divine in our innermost nature, Our body is mortal; our spirit, which is our true Self, is immortal; our soul, which is the self which thinks and feels and regards itself as 'I', may win its immortality if it becomes the servant of spirit, and not otherwise.

2. Why am I here-- We are here in order to discover what we really are, and to bring into activity all the powers that lie sleeping within us? Since we are, in our true nature, a part of the divine life, we have within our self all the attributes of divinity: infinite love, infinite wisdom, and infinite power. Humanity is still very young, and most of us have hardly begun the immense task of Self-discovery. But we are here to do this very, thing, and we have all the time we need to do it. It is to realize God or self, what ever we may call it. We have come here to make Love to Him, to be bathed in His love and to vibrate His love through the actions that come our way.

We have come here some day to play. Here is a Female here is a Male. She has got all the senses and desire, everything. He has also got the same thing. Both are the same. That is for His play. Male and female are only for the theater, the stage His Divine plays. Body and life bestowed on us by God are to be fully tasted and enjoyed.

This time of the body is temporary. We are actors and we are paid according to our performance. We shall play our part well in the God’s play of love, shaking of desires and obsessions. Our duty is to watch His Play as passive witnesses. Be always in a natural state of Oneness with Him free of all senses of want.

We have sojourned here for relishing His Raas Lila (Tasting of God’s Love). We have come here to have a taste of His Brij Lila, God’ play of Love. Which this world displays. Brij Lila is symbolized by copulation, moving to and fro between the opposite poles like a pendulum, the characteristic of dulity and mental function. It is a stage where we are to enact our respective roles for a stipulated period time.

Just try to Love Him and do your duty. Duty is the first thing. Duty is Karma, work. Our responsibility is to perform our actions with full sincerity and honesty. We must do Karma (activities). There is no knowledge without Karma. We are seeing, hearing, and eating something…. All this is Karma, and this Karma is knowledge.

We go through our daily activities Karma, whatever one does is Karma, Actions, and reactions in the mind lead to one’s activity. Let the fruit of action be decided and bestowed by Him because the result comes from Him. One cannot undertake any work without a pragmatic end in view. So, with attachment one has to do one’s work, although without any desire for the results. No sooner has the work been finished then the attachment evaporates. That should be the mental attitude.

3. What am I to do?- Be like a log of wood in the stream of His will. Love lives, Love work, love duty. Be of good cheer. Only remember God. And do whatever you do in the name of Him. That is enough.

One who can fully relish and utilize the present, without worrying about present, past and future, he or she really enjoy the state of Braijh Lila. His supreme Love. The essential thing about life is to see it and enjoy it as Lila (God’s Play).

We shall follow our desires. Do not force them into a special pattern Eat, drink, do everything, but remember God, Who is inside the body.

To move according to nature is only safe course. Do not go beyond the limitation of the body. If we do not respect it, will it not retaliate? Go about doing everything while remembering Him that is all that is needed.

What then are we to do? We have to brave the world, bear Prarabdh (Unavoidable evolutionary process of one’s life) with fortitude, and do our respective activities without any sense of ego.

Carry on. We have to do our duty. Duty is the first thing. Have patience with the vicissitudes of life, which are tokens of His infinite Love. Don’t restrain, don’t indulge. Be natural, shorn of all inhibitions.

Bear destiny or fate with patience. No restraint, no effort is necessary for Him. Relish His Love and taste the world of nature, with passive remembrance of God.

By doing our duties, which come from His, will we relish His Love and Bliss. We do and enjoy everything as we like but remember Him. We will see nothing will affect us. Try to act our role in the drama on this stage of the world perfectly.

Evaporation of ego, loving submission to God and braving the world of reality as His bounteous expression in our duty. The duty of all human beings is to carry out all activities of life with Him in view. Remember Him. That is enough, more than enough.

World cannot be discarded to become spiritualist. We have come to the world to do our destined works, Karma’s, not to get Him…. As He is already within. We have to do the work for which we are destined.

A vast field of activities is before us. Enjoy them with Him. (Life force) Jiva has everything. We can take meat, fish, and vegetables whatever we like. All are the same. Fasting is not good. Don’t go against your nature. Let our senses and mind do any manner of antics. Let our inner drives led our senses wherever they will. Be a passive spectator of the drama.

We have nothing to do except call to mind that God is within. Do nothing but practice remembering and adhering to Name. Repeat the Name, keep thinking about Him and the rest will be taken care of. Think of God. Keep on remembering God, the seed that has been sown in our heart. It is a wonderful key that makes every door open of its own accord.

We need not to shun the needs of the body. With birth we invited and came with certain desire, lust, passions, and greed. We cannot exist a moment without their help. The senses have an essential role. We shall have to give something to them. If we stop everything, they will revolt.

When the senses are pleased, they will accompany us. Our senses will turn inward in time and will become the internal ladder to help us climb to the plane of Divine Consciousness.

Take sex out of carnal desire and it can be one powerful force that can help you transcend all and experience divine pleasure in true union of not just bodies but all the five senses.* ( will discuss later)

Live, but live in tune with Him. Live beyond the realm of mind. Don’t live in wants, fear, and hopes. Live in Swabhav (Natural State of being in tune with God), in our real Self, which is the only Truth. Be of good cheer and enjoy! If we fail to enjoy ourself here how dare we expect it after death.

Nobody knows how destiny works until the end of life. We shall try to live everyday of our life in such a way that in the end we have the consolation that we have successfully utilized all the days and years with the gifts of the body, mind and Pran (Life breath) bestowed by God on you.

We shall do our duty (remember God). Do our work, and enjoy our days. Whiskey, cigarettes, loves… as we like. Then we will feel within us what no one can sell us, the living God, the true God, Who has created us and loves us.

Aim and purpose of Human Life – the truths it preaches will hold well so long as the human race survives and the laws of nature remain unaltered. There is nothing in religion which cannot be logically explained in terms of the fundamental laws and principles of life, which it discovered as result of its deep study of the eternal and inexorable laws of nature. The religion which is based on the eternal laws of nature is the eternal religion of humanity. It is not the exclusive possession of any particular individual, group, class, caste, creed, or race.

4. What is the use of this life? To attain Mokska- liberation from the cycle of birth, death and rebirth. Birth means a soul entering a body and death is its departure from the Body. The soul itself has neither a beginning nor an end; it is eternal or anadi and ananta. The soul entering a body on this earth or on other planets of the universe performs some actions that is karma.

Karma may enable a soul to attain the eternal bliss or Mokska. On the other hand karma cause endless continuation of the cycle of birth and death of a soul. As you sow so you must you reap. Thus, Karma plays the pivotal role in a pilgrim’s progress towards Mokska; its attainment or the lack of it. In its Karma, the atama is absolutely free and unfettered. A soul charts its own course evasion on uncharted sea. How does an ataman go about it? The 14th mantra of the 23rd chapter of yajurveda gives an appropriate and crystal clear guidance:

Sanshito Rashmina Rathah Sanshiteo Rashmina Hayah Sanshito Apsvapsuja Brahma Sompurogavah.

The horses of the chariot of life must always be well disciplined and well disposed to go at the desired speed. It is though self –control and self – discipline that master of the chariot, atman, and 10 horses, that is indriyas (five sensory and five action organs of the body) perform Karma. The ataman requires Vedic knowledge or Brahma jnyanam to partake of anand and also motivate others to follow the same path.

A good control over the 10 horses or indriyas makes an individual a real Dashrath, a charioteer in complete command of his sensory and action organs. That of course, is the Vedic path leading the ataman to Moksha.

5. We are Borne why ? We have come here for certain work. We shall have to do it. Afterward we shall have to go to our permanent House. By remembering God, we realize Him. That is true work. Work is worship when the sole frame of reference is the soul , the vibrant God’s name within our heart.

Every bit of work is worship. But the moment any kind of work grips our consciousness as the one thing indispensable and is stems the tide of our life, it is invested with the multiple nuances and derives of our ego and lacks spirituality.

Without this human body no other world divinities can taste His Love. In the body of a person resides Supreme Truth Govinda LORD KRISHANA is worshipped as a Paramyogi, a Sannyasi and a wise man. He is also a romantic lover, a shrewd warrior and a benevolent savior – all in one! This may be the reason why the Hindus worship him as the Purnavtar, a total incarnation of God on earth. No other incarnation of God is so much endowed with such diverse qualities as Krishna. All shades and colors of life – mischievous play fullness of a child, flirtatious romance of young man and ultimate maturity of a wise old man – meet in Krishna and they create a wide spectrum of colors, that has been attracting all kinds of artists, dancers, musicians, poets, writers and other creative people. The very meaning of his name Krishna is the element that attracts and pulls. Krishna is a magnetic force.

He is a perfect example of Maha Dhyani-(Greatest Mediator)- who is equally comfortable and fully centered when he is surrounded by his 16000 Pretty Gopis and particularly when he is in the middle of an epic war. He is totally relaxed and playful in all these extreme situations and takes life as a cosmic Leela, an ultimate dance of existence, which the poets have described as Raas. “This word raas is very beautiful: it means the divine celebration, the divine dance. In this interplay of energies, which are Raas, Krishna and his milkmaids cease to be individuals, they move as pure energies.

And this dance of male and female energies together brings deep contentment and bliss; it turns into an outpouring of joy and bliss. Rising from Krishna’s Raas this bliss expands and permeates every fiber of the universe. Although Krishna and his girlfriends are no more with us as people, the moon and the stars under which they danced together are still with us, and so are the trees and the earth and the skies that were once so drunk with the bliss of the raas. Although millennia have passed, the vibes of the maha-raas are still with us. “If someone goes to dance on the grounds where Krishna once danced with his Gopis he can hear the echoes of the Maha- Raas. If someone plays a flute near the hills that in the music of Krishna’s flute, he can hear those hills echoing it, everlastingly. In my view, Raas symbolizes the outpouring of the primeval energy as it is divided between man and women. And if we accept this definition, the Rass is as relevant today as it was in the times of Krishna. Then it is everlastingly relevant.”]

So the body is to be treated as His Temple and taken care of. Only for performing the bodily duties has the riches of the body been given. Eat, drink, do everything, but remember Him, Who is inside the body. To move according to nature is the safe course.

We have come here to do all sorts of acting. We have come here as a guest. We have taken our body as a temporary place to enjoy God in the Maya (Creative force of God manifests in ever-changing nature)! We have come to taste it! But we have become otherwise engaged. Be always with God’s name then the objective with which we have come here will be realized.

We are here with this body. Just maintain the body, nothing else. Body is not ours. We have taken that body the temple of God as a temporary place to enjoy Him in the Maya (God’s creative force which manifests in nature Prakriri, and therefore God’s grace to us). When we have come here, we have come here with mind senses, desire and attachments. We shall have to give something to them. If we stop everything, they will revolt.

To be born with human form in this mortal world has only one happy object. That is the relish the joy of God’s Love. Only it is the tendency of human mind to run under the compulsion of innumerable allurements and attachments. But even being involved in them what a Supreme blessing is this human birth. How ineffably is this world filled with beauty and flavor! We have come to taste it! But we have become otherwise engaged. Be always with God’s name then the objective with which we have come here will be realized.

Now the question is always arises in the mind of a person!

6. Where did I come from? -Why not accept the saying: “God in His Supreme playfulness, by mere resolve, has been inclined to create the worlds and they were created forthwith.

When an individual first appears in the Womb. of the mother, matters appear instantly. At that stage mind lies in a state of inertia. Mind and matter are nothing but one. With their gradual manifestation the difference in them is identified. From that state the individual is in the domain of nature and a series of phenomena determine one’s every development. Sometimes it seems mechanical.

There is no birth or death. Everything goes on changing from in the stream of eternity. Being born with a human body in this world’s itself destiny. One who has a taste for God’s love wants to be born again and again with a human body, because the taste of His love cannot be possible other than in that human birth.

Our psychosomatic (mind / body) existence is essentially feminine responding back and forth to the polarity of life. Human beings have individual shape (male / female ) according to the Divine Will of Lord, in spite of then fact that they originate from the same natural elements. Both (male / female) are dictated by the prompting of the mind and ego. Moving and acting in the plane of mind, all are female and the only goal is to realize the supreme Male.

When we take on a body in the realm of nature the power of Yoga Maya ( Divine Creative Force) is bound to create restrictions and obstacles in the course of life for individuals, families, societies and even for nations.

The Substance is one. This Universe as we find it today is the result of a long process of steady evolution. The world is only a small speck. We proceed from the general to the particular, but ultimately the general and particular become one. Therefore we should change our angle of vision.

Human birth is the rearest of all the births, we should try to live our life keeping Him in view. Human life is meant to feel His divine Play and thereby understand the nobility of the Creator. The mystery of birth will be unfolded only when the sweetness and beauty of the God’s Divine Play, which is the eternal Truth, is realized by turning the consciousness inward.

Human mind is similar to an Ocean, which is active at its surface and more and more quite (Silent) at its depth. Human being s are borne in the body with God from His blissful world to get real Anand (Supreme Bliss) by the taste Ras of His love in this mortal and illusory world. But superstitious human involvements and ignorant irresponsible attitude towards God do not allow us to come near to Him or to feel His love for which we get the rear human birth. We ignore God in pursuit of worldly pleasures, profits, and attachments, which please now and depress the very next moment. We waste the precious human birth given to us. We cannot give up the superstitious of our egoistic living in the world and we forget HE, the Truth.

We shall have no fear. The entire paraphernalia of nature is the creation of the Supreme Being. The all-pervading Truth. For the relish of His Divine Play. God has appeared many in the mirror of the mind. The divine play is intrinsically bipolar having positive and negative, ups, and downs, good and bad. Oscillation between them provides the basis for all the creative possibilities of the Play. When we are in the domain of nature, we have to acquiesce in Praabdha the evolutionary process of our life). When the play is over, the two poles coalesce into mere existence, all existents having disappeared.

7. Where am I going ? - We are going in the direction we have chosen, either drifting through life, at the mercy of events and of our own passing whims and moods, or taking adult responsibility for the whole of ourself, our character, our actions and our future. The full stature of manhood is the perfect expression of divinity in a human personality. We are choosing, at every moment, either to waste our opportunities and deny our true Self, or to accept our destiny and move consciously towards the goal of Self-realisation.

8. When I die where will I go?- The substance is one and that alone is the eternal substance. There is no vanishing, no destruction of it. It is the supreme Integral Existence. We are the eternal substances of that unfragmented Supreme Being.

We say a person dies. Where does one go? There is only one place. Still we think that at death a person has gone somewhere. One does not go anywhere. We do not understand the nature of death.

There is something called death as we call it. But it is God who leaves the body and He doesn’t go anywhere. His vibration stops in the body. But until the individual mind function is over the mind remains dissatisfied. Unless and until this mind is fully satisfied it will continue to come into this world. People who were together, come together again.

In the vacuous region of the heart, which is the Infinite, two sounds are constantly chanting. When those two sounds of God’s stop it is death. When these two sounds go off, the mind shrinks and a person dies. Then the mind shrinks and the person is merged in pervasive Existence. When the mind can resort to another body, it buds forth again.

Life has no death. Life is Eternal. What we call death or end of life is actually a phase and is concerned only with the body. Body consists of matters, which dissolve in time to their original form, but self has no dissolution. We have come for a few days not forever. Why should we bother for anything?

One has no right to put a violent end to one’s own life. Live the normal term of life doing your work. Without coveting the wealth of others and enjoying Him.

Individual has no existence of their own because exit from their mortal body is inescapable. That which holds the body will return to its own abode when it leaves the body. The reality of the mortal individual is then merged in that eternal and continuous Life Force which never moves from or to any place.

When God leaves the body He does not go anywhere. And we a bunch of fools do all kinds of funeral ceremonies for His benefit! Such rites are only for mercenary interest. The deceased for whom we perform rites receive nothing. Funeral rituals are meaningless and full of superstition. It is a business or trade of the priests that takes us far from Truth. We shall keep it in mind How many days we can or do live is not important. How we lived or live is important.

We have come to another’s house we must leave it someday. He will come and take us off. For the relish of His divine Play, God has appeared as many in the mirror of the mind. The divine Play is intrinsically bipolar, having positive and negative, ups and downs, good and bad, etc. Oscillations between them provide the basis foe all creative possibilities of His Play. When the Play is over, the two poles coalesce into mere Existence, all existents having disappeared.

Man has an eternal question.

If there is a God? Who is this Supreme Being? Who is God? Can we know about God? And if knowing God is possible? How do we comprehend Him: by reason or only through an ascetic epiphany of faith? If so, how can He be realized? Is it necessary to have so many Gods? How can I find God?

These questions have tormented theologians and mystics in the 4000- year history of monotheism. And does it serve the real purpose some ask? But whatever methods used to invoke their blessings. The basic source is only one Supreme Being and other derives authority from Him. Each group call, Him by a name of their preference. There is no conflict in uttering the names but God is one

GOD Defination is GENERATOR, OPERATOR, and DESTROYER.

Nature Of God

Dictionaries usually describe God as the Supreme Being. Since we cannot put God on a table for a thorough investigation, God and his nature is still seen by some as belonging to a belief system.

Scholars, who believe in the theory of evolution, naturally think that this system of belief must also have undergone its own evolution. They say that ' animism ' (a belief in souls) slowly developed into ' polytheism ' (the belief in many Gods) and from there developed into a belief of one God.

However, it is clear from ancient scriptures of India, which go back four to six thousand years (longer if we add oral tradition), that their polytheism is indeed a very precise belief in only one God.

The many Gods, we hear about, are according to their own explanation no more than qualities and externalisations of the single Supreme Being. Thus the oldest book on this globe, the Rig-Veda, tells us:

"The wise speak of the same One as Indra, Mitra, Varuna, and Agni... There is one Truth but the wise call it by different names."

This sentence alone should be sufficient to clear up another result of ignorance. Polytheism can rather be compared with Trinity that is definitely since even Jesus himself explains that there is only one God and we are all part of the One.

The Trinity, like religion itself, originated from India where it was called 'Trimurti'. Hindus call the Absolute Being ' Brahman ' The Son, as the creative force of cosmic vibration, is called ' Vishnu'. The returning, ingoing, attracting, dissolving, evolutionary force is called ' Shiva ‘. That is the exact equivalent of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

To picture all three as persons is somewhat childish because then we are thinking in terms of human families. An omnipresent Being should not be pictured in terms of Fathers, Mothers, Uncles, Sons, Daughters, etc. In fact, it should be clear that God is not a person and that when we talk about an Absolute Being or Supreme Being it refers rather to a condition of perfect being ness.

Since God is self-reliant and the world is a manifestation of God's energy, we could call God: 'Self-energetic being ness'। From the accounts of the many saints, sages, and self-realised persons, who have encountered this condition of being, we may add that this condition is a blissful state of being.

No doubt there is tremendous technology advancement, but these achievements cannot help any one to manufacture just a drop of blood, which God has created so perfectly. For this man should be thankful to the Almighty.

Maya, man aur pyar -
Aaj ke samaya me insaan ulajhta he ja raha hai Maya, man aur pyar
माया, मन और प्यार - आज के समय में इंसान उलझता हे जा रहा है - माया, मन और प्यार में

As we all know that man has come a long way from his beginning. Not enough can be said about the laps made by him is physical, sexual and technological areas, leaving his ancestors way behind.

Fortunately, in the last million years or so, vital changes began to take place. Our ancestors become more upright better runners. Their hands freed from locomotive duties, become strong, efficient weapon holders. Their brains become more complex- brighter, quicker decision takers. Their bodies become hairless, probably as a physically well equipped. A hunting ape was in the making. Because this hunting Apes battle was to be won by brain rather than brawn, some evolutionary steps had to be taken to increase his brain- power.

A young Chimpanzee completes its brain growth within twelve months after birth, six or seven years before the animal becomes reproductively active. Our own species by contrast has at birth a brain which is only 23 % of its final adult size, for you and me, brain growth is prolonged into adult life; continuing for about ten years after we have attained sexual maturity.

The naked Ape therefore was given plenty of time to imitate and learn before he had to go out and survive on his own. His parents could teach him as no animal had ever been taught before. He begins using artificial Weapons instead of natural ones. Because physically, he was less fit for obtaining food than the other carnivores. He became a co-operative pack hunter to survive. A home base was necessary. A place to come back to with the spoils where the female and their young ones could share the food. Parental behavior of this kind had to be a new development. For the general primate rule is that virtually all-parental care comes from the mother.

So the hunting ape becomes the territorial ape, and because of the extremely long period of dependency of the young, the female found themselves almost perpetually confined to be home base. In this respect the hunting ape’s new way of life posed a special problem, one that it did not share with the typical “Pure” carnivores, the role of sexes had to become more distinct.

The hunting parties had to become all male groups. If anything was going to against the primate grain, It was this, for a virile primate male to go off on a feeding trip and leave his females unprotected from the advances of other males was unheard of and demanded a major shift in social behavior.

The answer was the development of a pair bond, male and female hunting apes had to remain faithful to one another. This is a common tendency among primates; it solved three problems in one stroke. It means that the female remained faithful to their males while they were away on the hunt, reduction of serious sexual revelries among the males and the growth of a one male one female breeding unit. Soon ape becomes an ape with responsibilities. In mere half million years, he progressed from making a fire to making a spacecraft. It is an existing story, but the naked ape is in danger of being dazzled by and forgetting that beneath the surface he is still a primate.

Sexually, the naked ape today finds himself in a somewhat confusing situation. Because of the importance of the pair bond, he is the sexiest primate alive. How was this done? The period of the sexual receptivity of the female monkey or ape usually lasts for only about a week of her monthly cycle. In our own species, the female is receptive at virtually all times, even when she is pregnant.

In condition, sexual activities have been elaborated. The hunting life that gave us naked skins and more sometimes hands has given us much greater scope for sexually simulating body to body contact. Our private sexual system with its carnivore modifications has survived our fantastic technological advances remarkably well. Yet despite all this advances, we naked apes are still very much a simple biological phenomenon. Our climb to the top has been a get rich quick story, unless we can colonize other planets on a massive scale and spread the load, we shall crowed out all other forms of life from the earth in the not too distant future. At the end of the 17th century, the world population of naked ape was only 500 million. It has now risen to almost 3,700 million. The consequence is obvious, sheer quantity. If we do this we can continue to progress technologically in dramatic way without denying out evolutionary inheritance. If we do not then our suppressed biological urges will buildup and up until the dam bursts and the whole of our existence are swept away in the flood.

Human being, have been evolving slowly through out history. They have improved enormously in intellect over the years and have shown great potential for further improvement. What they have not done to rid themselves entirely of their original animal cruelty and selfishness. We are mysterious creatures, half animals, and half intellectual in nature. If our minds achieved mastery over our bodies, We should have the capability to get control of our world and manage it successfully.

We are becoming more intelligent and more capable, but our world is becoming more complex and difficult. The story of civilization in constant, convergence with everything is getting- closer and closer. But there is also constant education, which is part of the convergence. Civilization is a race between education catastrophes what we have to do in the present and the future, as this great race continues, is to make sure the education wins.

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nice car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire.
The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now.
If not now, when?

Our life will always be filled with challenges। It's best to admit this to our self and decide to be happy anyway.

"For a long time it had seemed to us that life was about to begin - real life। But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, and a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on us that these obstacles were our life".

This perspective has helped us to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that we have। And treasure it more because we shared it with someone special, special enough to spend our time and remember that time waits for no one.

So stop waiting until we finish school, until we go back to school, until we lose some money, until you gain some money, until we have kids, until our kids leave the house, until we start work, until we retire, until we get a girlfriend, until we get married, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until we get a new car or home, until home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until we are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until we've had a drink, until we die, until we are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy.

Life Is Eternal

Life is Eternal. Considering death - the cessation of functions of physical body - as the end of life is a great delusion. The soul (atma), which is the upholder of bio-energy in the physical body, is ageless, timeless and indestructible. The fear of death ensues from the misconception that with the end of physical existence, the individual loses its identity in totality. A firm conviction in the continuity of life after physical death frees man from the fear of death

Man is afraid of many things, but the fear of death is the greatest, the very thought of which makes him shiver. The reason for this unusual reaction is the ignorance about the environment of life beyond the physical death. In this short article extracted from the book "Life after Physical Death" (by Pandit Sriram Sharma Acharya), an attempt has been made to remove these misconceptions and enlighten man about the facts he is curious to know about the unknown future.

The task of educating people about the invisible realms of existence is, however, not easy. The subject pertains to paranormal phenomena and is, therefore, much beyond the reach of physical sciences and intellectual disputations.

Life is like an eternal stream. Each one of us has been living since time immemorial and would continue to do so for millions of years in future. Ignorance of facts makes us believe that life begins in the womb of mother during pregnancy and ends with cessation of functioning of heart and brain. It is a myopic point of view – a misleading concept. Modern medical science would make us believe that soul has no independent existence of its own, that the body itself is the totality of a living entity and the being is lost forever on death of the body.

But Alas! Physical sciences themselves are even today in infancy. Take for instance the subject of velocity of electricity. So far, over three dozens theories have been advanced in this context, each contradicting the earlier ones. No doubt man has learnt to make use of electrical current, but he is still uncertain about its mode of propagation. To the material world the ever-changing theories of physical sciences may not matter much but it would be unfortunate for mankind to apply the same norms to research in spirituality. Whereas scientists consider body itself as the total existence of a living being, a research scholar of
spirituality puts forward evidences of paranormal activities of the departed, defying explanation by material sciences.

Then there are authenticated versions of small innocent children, who have identified places and people of their past lives proving beyond doubt that a being goes through cycles of birth and death again and again. Sucking milk from mother’s breast immediately after birth itself indicates the presence in the infant of a memory from previous life. Extraordinary talents of many young children too are indicative of knowledge acquired in an earlier incarnation.

Soul (not mind which is erroneously considered as soul in the West) and body are not one and the same entity. Just as one is required to change clothes according to the requirements of occasion, the soul too changes bodies. As it is not possible to wear the same clothes throughout ones life, the soul with its infinite continuity in time, cannot dwell in the same body. That is why it seeks to find a new body again and again. Though, generally, one discards the old worn out and torn clothes only, at times it becomes necessary to do so prematurely, when they are accidentally damaged, torn or have become unusable on account of some other reason.

Likewise, though the soul continues to live in the body till it becomes infirm due to old age or diseases, it may also leave it at a younger age in a contingency.

Before we have to know about our self the most Important Subject of this century.

Prana the body and the mother of thought and thus also of the mind। Prana suffuses all living form but is not itself the Atman or individual soul. In the Ayurveda, the Sun and sunshine are held to be a source of Prana.

In Ayurveda, the Prana is further classified into subcategories, referred to as pranas. According to Hindu philosophy these are the vital principles of basic energy and subtle faculties of an individual that sustain physiological processes. There are five pranas or vital currents in the Hindu system:
Prana : Responsible for the beating of the heart and breathing. Prana enters the body through the breath and is sent to every cell through the circulatory system.

Atma or the soul is the performer of the homa; the mind is the Brahma brahma(the one who makes it happen); the bad intentions such as anger, greed, jealousy, desire etc are the sacrificial objects (comparable to the animals sacrificed); Mental strength or control is the vow; Contentment and the intellectual organs are the utensils that can be utilized in the homa; the sense organs are the sacrificial objects (comparable to the Havis or the rice) to be used; the Head or the skull is the utensil; the Hair thereon is the Darbha (the dried grass used in homa); the face is the sacrificing stage and the two lines of teeth, the bones, nerves and tissue are comparable to the other utensils and objects used in a Homa

“linga is derived from the two Sanskrit words laya (dissolution) and agaman (recreation).” Thus the linga symbolizes both the creative and destructive power of the Lord and great sanctity is attached to it by the devotees.
The moments of Death

How does one die? In this context Indian Yogis (saints) having paranormal perception hold the view that for a short duration preceding death, man experiences a great deal of restlessness, pain and writhe. There are a few reasons for this phenomenon. The event of death necessitates total withdrawal of the current of bio-energy (prana) from all over the body, which before death, is accumulated at that particular part of the body, through which the soul is about to make its exit, whereas, because of prevailing disposition of biological functions, this current tends to flow back to respective neurons.

The impact of this struggle creates the agony or the spasm at the moment of death. The other reasons for the misery proceeding the moment of death are diseases, shock or other physiological factors rendering the body unfit for retention of soul. Whether or not the dying person is able to express, the being does suffer for a few moments before death. However, soon thereafter, the person falls into a kind of coma and the soul departs in this state of unconsciousness. When death becomes imminent, all external functional powers of man become introverted and then cumulatively escape along with the soul through any exit in the physical body.

The Yogis of the West are of the view that the subtle body of the being comes out of the body as a violet shadow, whereas the Indian spiritual Masters see it as a brilliant white aura akin to luminescence of a burning lamp escaping at the moment of death. Because of cumulative withdrawal, all forgotten memories of life lying buried and dormant in the finer cells of brain are stimulated and revived. This phenomenon proves the extraordinary capability of human mind, when the dying person relives all experiences of life in a short moment like a playback of a cine-film, whereas while living it is impossible to remember even fifty percent of lives events in a long time. Each activity of a person, whether mental, verbal or physical, leaves an imprint on the soul.

The sum and substance of these events, deeds accompany the soul as its sanskaras (intrinsic mental and emotional impressions) at the time of its departure from the physical body. In this process, it is said, one feels unimaginable pain, like that inflicted by a thousand scorpion bites. While looking at the activities of bygone human existence the soul feels extremely miserable- because the soul feels extremely repentant for not having utilized lives precious moments fruitfully.

As mentioned earlier, the body becomes insensitive to all feelings of pain and disease much before death when the energy of sense-perception becomes introverted. Thus all sufferings of the body end before death. The bond between the body and soul with diseases, shock or old age begins to loosen. The fruit drops to the ground when it is ripened and its stem is unable to bear its weight. In the same manner, in the normal course, an individual dies when the body and its functional capabilities loosen their grip on the soul. The soul generally departs through the apertures in the upper part of the body, principally from the mouth, eyes, ears or nostrils. Souls of sinners have been found to exit through the anus or organs of sex. The soul of a Yogi leaves through the Brahmarandhra (near top of the skull).

The habitat of departed soul

On coming out of the body, the soul finds itself in a strange environment. Just as after a prolonged period of hard work one seeks a comfortable bed, in order to relax after the lifelong engagement with the body, the soul needs rest and sleep (a period of inactivity). This period of sleep provides the soul a great deal of rest; hence the prayer for the departed soul to rest in peace. However, the soul does not fall asleep immediately after death but takes some time in doing so. Generally, the duration lasts for about a month. It is because the habits and memories of earlier bodily attachments (Vasna) are fresh and strong at the time of death and only gradually loosen their hold. As an analogy, consider the state of body after hard labour. The circulation of blood is fast and one cannot fall asleep even on a comfortable bed till blood circulation becomes normal.

After its separation from the physical body (Sthul Sharir) on death, the soul assumes an astral body (Sukshma Sharir). The form of this body is somewhat similar to that of the physical body. The being is pleasantly surprised to find a sudden acquisition of levity. Now it can move freely in space like a bird and reach anywhere simply by willing to do so. After abandoning the physical body, the soul hovers around the mortal remains. Finding the near and dear ones mourning, it makes a vain attempt to communicate with them or re-enter the dead body.

The following narration of a departed soul illustrates the point. "After death, I found myself in a strange situation. On account of my previous attachments with my physical body and dear ones, I wanted to interact with them but found myself helpless.

I could see and hear everyone and I talked loudly, but found that I had become invisible and inaudible to the embodied living beings. Though it disturbed me to some extent, I felt very happy in my newly acquired body in which I felt very light and could fly around with great speed. I recollected, that while living I was afraid of death, for which now there did not appear any reason, whatsoever. Having acquired the new subtle body, I became less interested in the older one, since this astral (Sukshma) body was in every way much superior to the previous one. I felt that I was existing as before and could see and move my limbs as earlier. It convinced me that there was nothing to fear about death and dying was only an ordinary natural process involving change of body." This experience you will have only, die when you live; i.e. Meditation /Samadhi/ Sadhna.

Longevity

How long the life of the human being? There is a mystery of age. Devraha Baba lived at at 250+ Years Old.

Much research has been done and is being done on aging and how to prevent it. Some observations and theories have evolved. One observation has been that animals with a slow metabolism tend to live longer than animals with a fast metabolism. Shrewd, for example, have a fast metabolism. They live only a year or two. Turtles have a slow metabolism. The giant tortoise lives nearly 200 years. Studies done on mediators have proven that metabolism slows down during meditation; heart rate and breathing slows down. Results of a study measuring the physiological differences between subjects practicing Transcendental Meditation and just simply taking rest were reported in American Psychologist in 1987. The article stated that Transcendental Meditation produced a significant increase in basal skin resistance compared to eyes-closed rest, indicating profound relaxation. Deep rest and relaxation were also indicated by greater decreases in respiration rates and plasma lactate levels compared to ordinary rest. The implication is that practicing meditation may extend one's life span.

Another theory suggests that hormones play a role in the aging process. In 1989, at Veterans Administration hospitals in Milwaukee and Chicago, a study indicated that a growth hormone produced in the pituitary gland plays a critical part in aging. As one ages, production of the growth hormone declines. Injections of a synthetic version of the growth hormone were given to a small group of men aged 60 and over. There was a dramatic reversal of some signs of aging. The injections increased muscle mass, reduced excess fat, and thickened skin. But, when the injections stopped, the men's new strength decreased and signs of aging returned. Also, older people have reduced levels of estrogen, testosterone, melatonin, thymus, and DHEA; reductions of which also have an effect on aging.

Still another theory of aging is the free-radical theory. According to this theory, free radicals, which occur during the natural course of metabolism, also act randomly and indiscriminately to damage cell components. Free radicals are chemical compounds that possess one or more unshared electrons as part of their structural configurations. To become stable they aggressively seek out another electron with which to pair. In so doing they attack molecules, such as lipids, proteins and DNA which make up the cell's membrane. Cells have an internal defense system of creating antioxidants to fight against the harmful effects of free radicals. However, their defense mechanism is insufficient to prevent the damage caused by the actions of free radicals over a cell's lifetime. This cumulative cellular damage may contribute to the aging process. Pharmacologists demonstrated that by augmenting the cell's antioxidant defenses with certain synthetic enzymes they were able to reduce the action of free radicals, and thereby lessen cellular damage that the free radicals caused. By administering synthetic enzymes to worms the pharmacologists were able to extend the average life span of worms by 44%. Using this same pharmacological intervention on humans may lengthen the human life span as well.

Caloric restriction is another approach scientists have discovered which extends longevity. Researchers studied the effects of reducing food intake by 30% to 70% on a variety of life forms, from yeast to mammals. The researchers found that they were able to increase the life span of various creatures up to 40%. Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology studied yeast and found that when the energy of a cell drops off (which occurs under conditions of caloric restriction) an enzyme called Sir2 is activated. When activated, Sir2 causes a cell's genes within its chromosomes to be silenced. This reduces the production of extra chromosomal DNA circles, or Ecs. Ecs are toxic to cells and decrease longevity in yeast; they self-replicate, accumulate, and compete with the yeast's genome for vital enzymes and other cellular materials. For this reason reducing Ecs results in extending the life span of yeast. Since Sir2 has been found in humans, the research findings on yeast appear to be applicable to the human aging process as well.

What if a person does not eat at all, but is able to switch his body metabolism into living directly off of sunshine, can he prolong his life? Recent studies made on behalf of NASA, as well as other prior scientific research studies have proven that humans can live without food. They do not understand why or how, only that it is possible for humans to do so. One such recorded case is of Giri Bala, a woman who had not eaten for 56 years.

Here is a dialogue between of Paramahansa Yogananda and Giri Bala, excerpted from Yogananda's book, Autobiography of a Yogi.
"Are you never tempted to eat?"
"If I felt a craving for food, I would have to eat."
Simply yet regally she stated this axiomatic truth, one known too well by a world revolving around three meals a day!
"But you do eat something!" My tone held a note of remonstrance.
"Of course!" She smiled in swift understanding.
"Your nourishment derives from the finer energies of the air and sunlight and from the cosmic power which recharges your body through the medulla oblongata…"
"Mother," I asked, "why don't you teach others the method of living without food?"
My ambitious hopes for the world's starving millions were quickly shattered.
"No." She shook her head. "I was strictly commanded by my guru not to divulge the secret. It is not his wish to tamper with God's drama of creation. The farmers would not thank me if I taught many people to live without eating! The luscious fruits would lie uselessly on the ground. It appears that misery, starvation, and disease are whips of our karma which ultimately drive us to seek the true meaning of life."

"Mother," I said slowly, "what is the use of your having been singled out to live without eating?"
"To prove that man is Spirit." Her face lit with wisdom. "To demonstrate that by divine advancement he can gradually learn to live by the Eternal Light and not by food."

If a person were able to draw his required energy from cosmic sources he would eliminate the toxic fallout (free radicals and Ecs) that occurs from eating food, and this would help him prolong his life span. And, if the person practiced meditation and lived a relaxed lifestyle (thus lowering his metabolism), and also practiced yoga postures (stimulating his endocrine system), his life span would surely be prolonged. Taking these three factors together, it should be possible for a person living such a lifestyle to extend his life span dramatically.

"And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died," from Genesis 5:5. According to the Bible subsequent progeny lived for hundreds of years, with some in excess of nine hundred years. Are biblical references to a long life span allegorical or statistical fact? Today’s human with an average life span under eighty years may have difficulty comprehending how a human could live so long. But, perhaps a life span into the hundreds of years is not that far-fetched. What if sometime in the future medical science was able to eliminate most diseases, what then would cause people to die? Accidents and wars aside, how old could old age be? How long could the life span of a human be? Hundreds of years? Why not?

An Indian saint named Devraha Baba, who passed away in 1989, was a yogi who lived just such a lifestyle. Devraha Baba was from the spiritual heritage of the Avatar Ramanandacharya and lived beside the Yamuna River in Mathura. He lived on a 12-foot-high wooden platform where he usually remained stark naked. He never ate food. He only drank water from the Yamuna River. He claimed he could be in two places simultaneously (a siddhi described in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras). He was observed to have stayed underwater unaided for half an hour. He always radiated love. He was a Premaswarupa an incarnation of love. He gave darshan (spiritual blessing) to devotees who came to pay homage. Many came to visit this great illustrious saint. People came from all over India and from all walks of life. He was a favorite among India's senior politicians, and was visited by Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. Ministers, Boota Singh, saints, yogis, priests, rich and poor all came for Baba's darshan.

It was rumored that Devraha Baba claimed that he had lived for over 700 years. We need to consider it just a rumor. Nevertheless, Devraha Baba's family tree records place his age to be at least 250 years when he took mahasamadhi (relinquished his body) in 1989. If he was able to live to be 250, then it is possible that he lived for 700 years as well. Baba was called, "The Ageless Yogi." Devraha Baba gained mastery over the khecheri state of yoga whereby he was able to control his hunger and the time of his death. Devraha Baba was a siddha who lived for over 250 years, before entering samadhi in 1989. So elderly was he that the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prashad, verified Devraha Baba's old age. He said that he personally attests to Devraha Baba being at least 150 years old. He said that when he was 7 years old, his father took him to see Baba, who was a very old man, and that his father already had known Baba for many years before that. An Allahabad High Court Barrister had stated that seven generations of his family had sat at the feet of Devraha Baba. Incidentally, Devraha Baba had predicted the time of his death five years in advance.

Since Giri Bala's interview with Yogananda, the world has undergone an exponential awakening in consciousness and science. The ancient teachings of the Rishis, which heretofore have been kept secret and only shared with the closest of disciples, now are readily available to everyone. As more people begin meditation practices and learns to tap their inner cosmic energies, and as medical science moves towards eradicating all diseases, it is conceivable that the human life span will be extended by decades if not by centuries.

Ghosts and spirits

Because of earlier long attachment the soul continues to hover around the dead body till it is cremated. After it is reduced to ashes, it reluctantly seeks a diversion. On burial, however, it remains infatuated with the mortal remains and hovers around them for many days. Souls of less enlightened persons and of those having deeper involvements in worldly matters haunt the graveyards and crematoriums for many days. Longing for the earlier body draws them again and again towards the place of cremation, and unable to control their emotions, they wail around the grave. Then there are also individuals having deep affections with close friends and relatives. Souls of such persons prefer to stay near the favorite persons rather than around the place of cremation.

[Here I would like to narrate self experienced instance happened with me. After my Father’s death I have performed all the religious rites according to Shastra Vidhi Vidhan and at last I was to perform a Pitri Gaddi (here at this ceremony, what we hilly area people do that all our forefathers are rested at one place in our village keeping a stone on his name with all pooja rituals etc) when we were performing the drizzling started and it stopped after I have completed this last ceremony, relaxed with all village people sat together gossiped and night I slept. Night in dream my father came and tapped at my back and said (saabas beta main Khus hoon Bishan Singh ko 800 rupaye de dena.) Since then till to-day after my Father’s death Three years have passed, any member our family never had him in dreams].

An aged person, while living naturally, develops a greater detachment from worldly affairs. Consequently, the soul of such a person is more relaxed and falls asleep soon after death. On the other hand, youths having strong desires and attachments, especially those dying of shock or suicide, suffer for longer durations, before having rest.

In the event of sudden death associated with pain, quite a few particles of the physical body (Sthul Sharir) cling to the Astral Body (Sukshma-Sharir), as a consequence of which, the soul retains the characteristics of both the former physical form as well as the astral form. It, therefore, has some physical as well as astral (Sukshma) components. Such souls, at times, become visible to a living person as apparitions. However, this is not true about a person dying a natural death. In order to make themselves visible, the latter category of spirits have to make great efforts and carry out specific spiritual exercises. Persons dying of unnatural death, on the other hand, exist as spirits (ghosts) and they are unable to sleep because of troubled emotional state.

Seeking opportunities for taking revenge or fulfillment of insatiate desires through the body of a living person, they hover around old "Pipal" trees, caves, ruins or some reservoirs of water. They make their presence felt to the desired person or persons at opportune moments. The exorcists (Tantriks) bring such spirits under their control with the help of witchcraft and make them work like slaves. The spirits, however, do not work willingly for the exorcists. They remain ever resentful and even kill their captors in their unguarded moments. No one likes to be in bondage. The spirits perform like the caged lion in a circus. The spirits generally tend to stay at a particular place, and do not change their abode frequently unless there is some specific reason to do so.

The rest before rebirth

The souls of modest persons and of those having religious disposition sever links with the earlier worldly milieu after cremation and easily reconcile to the changed environment. Detaching themselves from the past, they easily fall asleep for recuperation. Nature has not specified any fixed duration for this period of rest. It depends on the state of spiritual growth of the soul. As children and hard working persons need a longer period of sleep and rest, so do the souls in various states of spiritual growth. Generally duration up to three years is found sufficient for this rest. During the first year, the soul sleeps soundly. During this period the soul is able to recuperate from the exhaustion of earlier physical incarnation and the finer perceptions of the new astral body begin to respond efficiently to the requirement of new levels of sentience. In the second year of rest the soul recapitulates the wrong deeds Paap (sins) of the earlier physical existence and prepares itself for working in the new environment, in the light of past experiences. The third year is spent in looking for the milieu in which it desires to return to this world by taking birth in a new body. The durations mentioned here are averages. Occasionally, in specific cases, persons have been found taking rebirth even after six months, whereas others have taken as long as five years. The maximum age (period of existence) of spirits (Prait Atma) is believed to be twelve years. Thus the maximum gap between the death of a person and rebirth could be taken as twelve years. Almost all major religions of the world believe in immortality of souls. However, how individual life continues after shedding the physical form is a jigsaw puzzle – different philosophers and religions having given different viewpoints. The Creative Spirit of Life is multidimensional and ever-changing. The essence of life is change and growth. May be we are spiritual beings going through human experience and through numerous incarnations, ultimately we are to be the perfect expression of our innate Divinity!

Reincarnation?

Reincarnate means to “reenter the flesh.”

The soul is immortal and takes birth time and time again. Through this process, we have experiences, learn lessons and evolve spiritually. Finally we graduate from physical birth.

Hinduism हिंदुत्वा believes that the soul is immortal, that it never dies, but inhabits one body after another on the Earth during its evolutionary journey. Like the caterpillar’s transformation into a butterfly, physical death is a most natural transition for the soul, which survives and, guided by karma कर्म , continues its long pilgrimage until it is one with God. We our self have had many lives before this one and expect to have more. Finally, when we have it all been worked out and all the lessons have been learned, we will attain enlightenment and moksha, liberation. This means we will still exist, but will no longer be pulled back to be born in a physical body. (Depend on our pious karma कर्म ) Even modern science is discovering reincarnation.

Reincarnation, to us, it explains the natural way the soul evolves from immaturity to spiritual illumination. Life and death are realities for all of us. There have been many cases of individuals’ remembering their past lives. These have been researched by scientists, psychiatrists and parapsychologists during the past decades and documented in good books and videos. Young children speak of vivid past-life memories, which fade as they grow older, as the veils of individuality shroud the soul’s intuitive understanding. Great mystics speak of their past lives as well. So do our ancient scriptures, the Vedas, reveal the reality of reincarnation?

Even Reincarnation is believed in by the Janis जैन and the Sikhs सिख , by the Americans, and by the Buddhists बौद्ध , certain Jewish sects, the Pagans and the many indigenous faiths. Even Christianity originally taught reincarnation, but formally renounced it in the twelfth century. It is, in fact, one of the widest held articles of faith on planet Earth.

Each soul evolves by experiencing many varied lives through reincarnation, called punarjanma पुनर्जन्म in Sanskrit संस्कृत , the process wherein the soul repeatedly takes on a physical body through being born on Earth. Here, a soul, represented by the ray of light, is shown in seven successive lives. Reincarnation is a purposeful maturing process governed by the law of karma कर्म .

Karma कर्म is one of the natural laws of the mind, just as gravity is a law of matter. Just as God created gravity to bring order to the physical world, He created karma कर्म as a divine system of justice that is self-governing and infinitely fair. It automatically creates the appropriate future experience in response to the current action. Karma कर्म simply means “action” or “cause and effect.” When something happens to us that are apparently unfortunate or unjust, it is not God punishing us. It is the result of our own past actions. The Vedas वेद्द , Hinduism’s हिंदुत्वा revealed scripture, tell us if we sow goodness, we will reap goodness; if we sow evil, we will reap evil. Thus we create our own destiny through thought and action. And the divine law is: whatever karma कर्म we are experiencing in our life is just what we need at the moment, and nothing can happen but that we have the strength to meet it. Even harsh karma कर्म , when faced in wisdom, can be the greatest catalyst for spiritual growth. Understanding the way karma works, we seek to live a good and virtuous life through right thought, right speech and right action. This is called dharma धर्म .

Karma कर्म is basically energy. We throw energy out through thoughts, words and deeds, and it comes back to us, in time, through other people. Karma कर्म is our best teacher, for we must always face the consequences of our actions and thus improve and refine our behavior, or suffer if we do not. We Hindus हिंदू look at time as a circle, as things cycle around again. Professor Einstein came to the same conclusion. He saw time as a curve and space as well. This would eventually make a circle. Karma कर्म is a very just law which, like gravity, treats everyone the same. Because we Hindus हिंदू understand karma कर्म , we do not hate or resent people who do us harm. We understand they are giving back the effects of the causes we set in motion at an earlier time. The law of karma कर्म puts man at the center of responsibility for everything he does and everything that is done to him. Karma कर्म is a word we hear quite often. “This is our karma, कर्म ” or “It must have been something we did in a past life to bring such good karma कर्म to us.”

We hear karma कर्म simply defined as “What goes around, comes around.” In some schools of Hinduism हिंदुत्वा , karma कर्म is looked upon as something bad—perhaps because we are most aware of this law when we are facing difficult karma कर्म , and not so aware of it when life is going smoothly. Even some Hindus equate karma कर्म with sin, and this is what Christians preach that it means. Many people believe that karma कर्म means “fate,” a preordained destiny over which one has no control, which is also untrue. The process of action and reaction on all levels—physical, mental and spiritual—is karma कर्म . Here is an example. I say kind words to you, and you feel peaceful and happy. I say harsh words to you, and you become ruffled and upset.

The kindness and the harshness will return to me, through others, at a later time. This is karma कर्म . An architect thinks creative, productive thoughts while drawing plans for a new building. But were he to think destructive, unproductive thoughts, he would soon not be able to accomplish any kind of positive task even if he desired to do so. This is karma कर्म , a natural law of the mind. We must also be very careful about our thoughts, because thought creates, and thoughts make karmas—good, bad and mixed.

Karma कर्म is the universal principle of cause and effect. Our actions, both good and bad, come back to us in the future, helping us to learn from life’s lessons and become better people.

One of the best examples of karma कर्म is that we can’t give anything away but that generosity will return to us, with interest.

However………….
At death the soul leaves the physical body. But the soul does not die. It lives on in a subtle body called the astral body. The astral body exists in the nonphysical dimension called the astral plane, which is also the world we are in during our dreams at night when we sleep. Here we continue to have experiences until we are reborn again in another physical body as a baby. Each reincarnating soul chooses a home and a family which can best fulfill its next step of learning and maturation. After many lifetimes of following dharma धर्म , the soul is fully matured in love, wisdom and knowledge of God. There is no longer a need for physical birth, for all lessons have been learned, all karmas कर्म fulfilled. That soul is then liberated, freed from the cycle of birth, death and rebirth. Evolution then continues in the more refined spiritual worlds. Similarly, after we graduate from elementary school we never have to go back to the fifth grade. We have gone beyond that level in understanding. Thus, life’s ultimate goal is not money, not clothes, not sex, not power, not food or any other of the instinctive needs. These are natural pursuits, but our real purpose on this Earth is to know, to love and to serve God and the Gods. That leads to the rare and priceless objects of life: enlightenment and liberation. This Hindu view of the soul’s evolution answers many otherwise bewildering questions, removing the fear of death while giving assurance that each soul is evolving toward the same spiritual destiny, for the Hindu हिंदू believes that karma कर्म and reincarnation are leading every single soul to God Realization.

Further……………….

Is history the result of personal endeavor? Do people shape events, or do events people? Are we ruled by karma कर्म and controlled by the stars and planets, the lines in our hands, or are we the architects of our destiny?

This ancient debate seems irresolvable. For millennia, humankind has been unable to establish causes for events. This discussion has occupied the minds of great thinkers for centuries. History students grapple with the problem, philosophy graduated seek answers to this enigma, ethicists wrestle with moral mazes, but scholars and seekers alike cannot establish consensus. Religious leaders daunted by world events struggle to give answers. The issue seems impenetrable. Is it timed to give up and move on to something less abstruse?

It’s fashionable for us and in line with western capitalism to think we can control our future and thus progress, economically and socially. Working for justice and mercy is required, as faith isn’t found in fatalistic inertia, but the metaphysical dilemma never dies. What do saint and sages say? Are we always controlled, or are we free? Well, look out; because, ancient books of truth tell us that freedom and destiny (or roughly speaking karma) exist side by side. The crude example is driving on the wrong side of the road. We have the free will to do so, but it’s unsafe. Both karmic कार्मिक destiny and free will operate here.

According to Shastric शास्त्रिक knowledge, even pre-destined reverses or apparent curses can be seen as blessings, and mistakes the pillars of success. From this perspective one is always free, in success or failure, life or death. Lord Brahama भगवान् ब्रह्मा tells us that Govinda गोबिंद extinguishes sinful reactions for those who, with devotion, value him. In other words, spiritual commitment is to see the “invisible hand” of God directing our activities, such that instead of being left to the rule of karma कर्म , we can rightfully act in accord with the wishes of God, and find reverses to be blessings disguise.

Varahamihira वराहमिर says that Astrology, like a lamp throws light on the dark recesses of the future and reveals the results and consequences of Karma कर्म done in previous lives.

Tolerance is a value, and he or she, who can endure the ‘whips and scorns of time, patently waiting better days is a person of character. Those who are free from lamenting over losses, and the euphoria that comes with achievement, are not just drably stoical and unfeeling, but wise, content and happy. A person of steady mind is unflappable in any situation, and worthy of our respect and emulation.

Action and reaction hold the stage. When the reaction gathers magnitude one cries for succor. Then death comes. But the reaction persists and that leads to Rebirth / Reincarnation-? What do we mean by that? When we give up the body then and there he catches the mind. After that it is a question of time, may be just now, may be one day, may be a few years, we come back in a different body.

Unless and until one’s (destined unfolding process of one’s life) is full, until one is merged with God, One’s mind will have to come back, will have to again take a body in this world.

When a person is born, one day he or she must leave the body. The real thing is that nobody goes elsewhere, only the body changes and transforms while the soul exists. We cannot see while the soul leaves the body, we say it goes away, but there is no scope for going beyond the Universe. There is one very secret thing. The elements of the body transform and change. The combination of Hydrogen and Oxygen form water, again under certain condition oxygen and Hydrogen separate and go to their former conditions. If we say, vanish it is not correct. The word transformation or change is more correct. The most secret mystery is the attachment or Maya माया for the body. We feel nothing for the oxygen or hydrogen so we feel nothing about their transformation or change. We feel sorry for the death of mother or father or whoever it may be because of an attachment. Death is nothing but a change or transformation. We shall try to understand the Origin. If we catch hold of the root, then we will understand the branches.

But only a few of us realize that we are borne of him, life in him all the waking moments and all through the state of quite slumber and finally merge in him on the day of reckoning. We forget the self- our real nature and squabble and lament over things that must pass the bubbles that must burst ( Paani kera Budbuda, As manus ki jaat, dekahat he chup jayega jyon tara prabhat.) पानी केरा बुदबुदा अस मानस की जात, देखत ही छुप जाएगा ज्यों तारा प्रभात । In fact we are bubbles, who forget that we belong to the majestic Ocean, can we ever imagine of any bubbles without Ocean? Can we separate the sunlight from the Sun or the arresting aroma of the flowers from the flower itself? The greatest tragedy of man is that he is propelled by his ego that he is separate and superior। Carried away by the patty transient glories of life he has lost sight of his true nature. Sri Ramakrishna श्रीरामकृष्ण compares the world of non-self to zero. The zero has no value in itself, we may add Zero after zero, to make a figure, but it has no meaning. But with the digit one in front of them suddenly makes sea of difference, with every additional zero the figure becomes significant, likewise Sri Ramakrishna श्री रामकृष्ण used to say the pursuit of the shadows in our life is but the series of Zeros without the digit at the beginning. Only Atman आत्मा permeating every thought words and deed success is bond to crown our life.

To the modern World vitiating the atmosphere with unbridled violence pilling up weapons of destruction that decimate the human race hundred Times over, but doing little to wipe off the tears of children of poverty and war. Today’s permissive society is heading headlong towards disaster. Woman has today become an object of bestial lust, the gold mine of porn peddlers, the stock-in-trade of Blue films, and all in the name of modern thinking.

We shall try to know our birth, why we have come here and what our purpose is. God never created us for suffering or bondage or agony. Rather He suffers for us, because when we were born we forgot His purpose. Our ego is the cause of suffering and bondage. Complete surrender to God is the only way to get rid of ego and knows our purpose, which is to enjoy the Play of the Divine. Then we will understand what birth is.

Space and time exist only in our mind. Space and time each have infinite dimensions. Every segment of space is present in every other segment. Every split second also is present in every other second. So space and time are both ubiquitous (everywhere simultaneously). Time is a ceaseless duration and spaces an unfettered expense. Matter is one. Indistinguishable, it wears different looks on different occasions. There is no dichotomy of matter and spirit; they are one integer that is the sole Reality.

The whole process of thought materializing into deed is a series of karmic cycles. An awareness of these eternal laws gives us the power to alter the course of karma but not while in the midst of a karmic कार्मिक cycle. We have the power of wisdom and choice of free will to review and make changes to our life but not before the cycle comes to an end. A frog in mid-air cannot alter the course of its flight. However, on landing, it can choose the direction of its next leap. For true transformation we have to discover love, for which we need divine assistance.
