Consciousness - Force Hidden In the Human Organism-2

As mentioned earlier, the cosmic radiations are received by the geo-north pole on the earth; and the untoward effects, and the excess or wastage after the consumption of the desired energy is discarded through the geo-south pole. This process is similar to the subliminal process of the attraction and absorption of cosmic signals (of the eternal prana indwelling the cosmos) by the sahastraraand disposal (after necessary consumption by the extrasensory centres along the endocrine column) through the muladhara. In the context of kundalini sadhanas the yoga-scriptures liken the muladhara to a deep pond and the sahastrara to the majestic Himalayan peak of the Kailash Mountain. The synchronicity and vital linkage of these two chakras (extrasensory centres) is realized through the electrification of kundalini (also known as the gigantic 'serpentine fire' in the science of "Tantra" symbolizes the sublime source of absolute life-force, vital spiritual energy and the latent reservoir of supernatural powers. It is also regarded to be the governing power of Maya. This limitless force normally remains hidden and dormant and could be stimulated and elevated through arduous sadhanas of Kundalini-Yoga.) and results in ultimate bliss. The individual self, the soul, unites with its eternal origin - (God) and attains self-realization.

The active level of spiritual charge in the sahastrara determines the intensity and glow of the aura around one's face (especially the head). The mythological depiction of bright halo around the faces of the idols of deities or divine characters symbolizes this fact. The two volumes on "Psychic Discoveries behind Iron Curtain" by Sheila Ostrander and Lynn Schneider (published by Bantam Books, New York in 1970s) mention a great deal about the aura of vital energy around living beings. A technique called Kirilian photography is said to have made it possible to photograph and analyze the aura as clearly as the polar spectrum at the terrestrial North Pole. Dr. Narendran, a neurologist at the Madras Medical College is reported to have recorded the halos of 'light' (vital energy zones) around different parts of the body including the fingers.

The Kirilian technique of sensing and recording of micro-ionic energy domains has been a remarkable scientific breakthrough towards the development of Thermographs and Electro magnetographs in the second half of the 20th century.

According to Dr. Narendran, the intensity of the aura increases with vital energy. It exists in plants, trees and even in the inanimate matter but it is difficult to photograph it due to its low intensity. A high voltage projection recording with the help of a modified design of Dr. Kilner Walter's instrument (invented in 1949) is used for recording the aura around human beings. Researchers in this field opine that the measurement of aura and the analysis of its spectra would be useful in understanding the mental state of patients and would therefore provide better means for the diagnosis and management of psychosomatic disorders. Some of them express the view that the knowledge about this rather new field of bio-energy was available since ages but was largely hidden due to misinterpretation of the scriptural texts and unscientific practices like those of hypnotism, holography, etc.

Dr. Kilner had shown, using a dicyanin screen, and that the distribution of ions around our body is affected by the number of dead cells being disposed off through the skin and that the extent and rate of decay is associated with the level of our vital energy. The aura is supposed to be formed in the intense ionic zones around the body. Hence a relation between the appearance of an aura and vital energy exists. He mentions in his book "Human Atmosphere" that the charged particles in the aura remain invisible due to their nano-structure and dispersed distribution. The glow of the aura around most people therefore remains dim or dull. However, people with supernatural powers and elevated spiritual energy can visualize and measure the aura around anybody.

The scientific methods of recording and analyzing the aura around the human body, and the scriptural reviews on the origin and knowledge of the subliminal fields of vital energy and the spiritual force associated with its glow, are discussed in detail in volume 17 of "The Complete Works of Pandit. Shriram Sharma Acahrya". The present discussion gives only a glimpse of some related aspects of the astounding living organism of the human body that have been deciphered in the modern laboratories. The subliminal world living inside the human beings is far more vast and mysterious than the perceivable world around it. The sukshmikarana sadhana - supreme spiritual endeavour of sublimation of the life force - is a consistent and phased process of the realization, expansion, transmutation and unification of the individual consciousness with the supreme cosmic consciousness.

As scientific research proceeds with discovering the subtler realms of life and consciousness in the human body, newer dimensions of supernatural powers would begin to unfold in this natural system. The principles and attainments of sukshmikarana would also then become more explicit and convincing and will inspire a greater number of people to undertake and benefit from the marvellous results of spiritual sadhanas.

Integration of science and spirituality would help in unveiling the subtle mechanism and depth of the universe of life in our body. This would also lead to an integrated scientific vision of the superiority of the power of consciousness over all other powers in the physical world and thus enhance our faith in its omnipotent eternal origin. This elevated reverence for its Supreme Creator should also reduce our faith in the dignity of human life and humanity

Consciousness - Force Hidden In the Human Organism

The most interesting and challenging topics of research in the recent times have been focusing on the mysteries of human body. Apart from the scientists and researchers of the modern age, the ancient sages and seers had delved even deeper into the marvels and intricate workings of the inner realms of the living human organism.

The modern age cutting edge biological researches have successfully made it possible to decode the human DNA sequence. However, despite the dedicated efforts of the geneticists, biophysicists, biochemists, and other researchers of the biomedical sciences, and despite the successful experiments on cloning genes and organisms and the synthesis of some bio-molecules in the laboratories, the mystery of the origin and ultimate end of life remains unresolved. No theory of evolution has yet been able to scientifically elucidate the origin and manifestation of consciousness in living organisms or capture the moments of transition between life and death.

The essence of what the Upanishad seers describe about the living system implies that the structure and functions of the human organism have not evolved in stages, as claimed by Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. Rather, this highly evolved system has always existed as a perfect creation of the Almighty. For instance, a hymn in the "Ishopanishad" cites that the entireness of Brahma - the Supreme Creator of the universe - is imminent in his infinite creation. Everything existing in the universe therefore is as complete and vast (in its subliminal world) as the cosmic expansion. The following mantra in the "Chhandogyopanishad" proclaims the underlying unity of all phenomena in the ultimate source and substance of creation- the atma.

Satya eshoani maitdayatymidam sarvam|
Tatsayem sa atma tatvamasi shvetaketo ||

Meaning: The spirit is the only and the ultimate source of all phenomena that exist in this universe. The spirit is the Absolute Truth and 'Oh! Svetaketu (addressing to the disciple), you are nothing but that eternal spirit.'

The ancient Indian scriptures also throw light upon the fundamental principles for the physical manifestation of consciousness. A human being is described here as - "A superb individual concretization of the subtle dynamic impulses that perpetually flow in the limitless expansion of the cosmos". The principle of underlying unity of the subtle structures of the cosmos and the microcosm of a human organism, and the eternal conjugation between the vital powers and energy currents within and beyond the living system of the human body, provide a scientific basis of the subliminal existence of the universe in the latter.

What is known or perceivable about the structure and function of the human body (including the brain) itself is so astounding that there remains little doubt about the validity of above assertions. A complex, subliminal and limitless ocean of electromagnetic waves, neuro chemicals, and vital energy indwells in this visibly small but functionally omnipotent system. Noting that the Indian Philosophy and Science of Spirituality and Life had focused on the conscious as well as the material existence of Nature, a fresh look at the inherent import of the scriptural texts in the light of the new scientific discoveries might be useful in deciphering the mysterious realms operating within the living human organisms. The authentic descriptions and implications of the Upanishad texts may be regarded as theorems or conjectures for this purpose requiring theoretical and experimental research according to present day scientific methodology to prove, resolve, or verify the truth of their insights.

The eleventh mantra of the "Ishopanishad" says - "One who learns from the known (perceivable) as well as the unknown (subliminal), transcends the knowledge of death and eternity". This indeed gives an important clue in the present context indicating that the integration of the material based modern scientific research with the science of spirituality and the subliminal world of consciousness would indeed offer in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the astonishing world of conscious energy process operating inside the deeper levels of human organism.

In continuation of the advancing research on human genes, neuropathies and other biochemical’s, the molecular biologists, neuroscientists and biophysicists have also discovered some macromolecules responsible for bioelectrical functioning in the human body. It is found that a powerful electrostatic field exists in almost every tissue of our body. These electrical fields activate the neurons in the brain under the energized control of small amounts of certain neurotransmitters and these also affect the cell membrane potentials and hence the inter-cellular communication in other parts of the body.

Because of the enormous bioelectrical processing in it, our body functions like a dipole magnet who’s North Pole resides in the central core of the brain and the South Pole in the bottom centre of the genitals. Scientific observations show that its polarization process is similar to that of the earth and that this polarization begins at the level of a zygote itself. The meiotic process of chromosome synthesis and distribution in gametes occurs after this polarization.

An electro-sensitive micron image of even a child's body shows dense halo of light near the brain and the genitals. The locations of the north and the south poles of the grand bioelectrical magnet of the human body match respectively with those of the sahastrara (extrasensory centre in the reticular activating system) and the muladhara (extrasensory centre beneath the lowermost end of the spinal column). These subtle energy centres are referred in the yoga-scriptures in the context of the galaxy of vital electric and spiritual powers hidden in the Kundalini. These two extrasensory centres respectively are said to be the subliminal inlets and outlets or the two 'channels' for the continuous flow of cosmic energy, vital currents and bioelectrical communication in the body's micro-universe.

Dr. Harold Saxton Burr (b1889-d1973), a distinguished scientist at the Yale MedicalSchool had carried out extensive work on the bioelectrical roots of life-energy. In his book entitled "The Field of Life" (John Wiley, 1972) he remarks that the high magnitude of the (bio) electrical potentials between the two poles of a tiny zygote is indeed astounding. This (bio) electromagnetic property naturally has a crucial role in enabling multi-cellular development of this single cell into the marvellous human body. In fact, as Dr. Burr describes, sperm itself is a dipole in which the upper pole carrying the nucleus is the centre of information and the lower pole, the tail, contains electrical energy for transmitting this information. These poles are functionally active in the DNA and RNA of the cells in the offspring.

The continuous and controlled flow of electrical currents between the involved cellular dipoles plays vital role in embryogenesis and complete development of the body. According to Dr. Jean Mark (Science, issue no. 1, 1981) electrophoresis is fundamental to various cellular processes occurring inside a living body. The balanced circulation and optimal activities of the Red Blood Corpuscles (RBC) and the White Blood Corpuscles (WBC) also rely on the ionic secretions through the membranes of these cells.

Significant work in the areas of electro-physiology is reported on the cardiac pacemaker and the conducting tissues, which control the pumping action of the heart and hence the healthy blood circulation. Electrophysiological phenomena have also been studied microscopically in the spinal cord (around the sushumna nadi) and the connecting sympathetic and parasympathetic ganglions. Transport of calcium ions across the cell membrane is important in the bioelectrical and bio magnetic properties of the cells and hence in the active transport across the cell-membrane and for intercellular communication too.

The terrestrial magnetic lines of force enter through the Geo North Pole and exit from the Geo South Pole. The reception and transmission (or dissipation) of cosmic rays also is most intensive at these poles. The electrically charged ultra fast solar rays are always concentrated and focused at the receiving centre (North Pole) and are most dispersed at the exit centre (South Pole). The South Pole works as the exit door for the dissipation of excessive heat, global pollution, unabsorbed radiation, etc. This natural flow of energy from the north to South Pole becomes possible because of polarization. The polarization in the human body is equally important for the bioelectrical, physiological and biochemical processing. The vital charging and evolution of energy fields around the two poles of the body's magnet emit specific aura that is brighter and intense around the upper pole.

The spinal cord is the connecting channel of bioelectrical power transmission from the brain to the central nervous system and to all the sensory organs in fractions of a second. The spinal cord is made up of collagen tissues constituted by a compact assembly of these stable protein molecules. The upper end of this cord (covering the bundles of nerves) is positively charged and the lower end is negatively charged. In terms of tissue structure, this cord forms a coiled cluster at the lower end and spreads at the upper end as an elliptical surface in the reticular activating system of the brain. This core is the central repository or powerhouse of immense (bio) electricity, part of which is also used in the bodily activities from cellular to organ levels. Most of this storage remains subliminal. Further, due to the continuous flow of positive and negative currents and mutual reactions and consumption of ionic concentration in the varieties of processes going on simultaneously in the sensory operations, electrophysiological, metabolic, and motor activities, etc, it is difficult to measure the charge of this power field by electroencephalograph (EEG). The EEG can record only about 13% of the bioelectrical activities of the brain on an average.

As described earlier, the reticular activating system, the central region of the pineal, pituitary and the hypothalamus in the brain are given immense importance in the yoga-scriptures. The associated vital and latent energy domains and extrasensory power centres are referred here as the brahmarandhra and the sahastrara. The sahastrara being the 'north (upper) pole' of the body's magnet receives cosmic signals and subliminal transmissions.

Yoga sadhanas of successive refinement, activation and control of sahastrara bestow the potentials of attracting and absorbing the desired supernormal energies and impulses of cosmic consciousness through this extrasensory centre. The necessary disposal of the vices (of the body and mind) and pernicious effects become possible through the muladhara chakra (the south pole of the body's magnet). The quality and intensity of the cosmic energy received by the upper end (the brahmrandhara and sahastrara) of the dipole (bio) magnet of the spinal cord depends upon the mental enlightenment and spiritual elevation of the yogi.

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad-2
An Equal Half

Hinduism regards man and woman as the two halves of the eternal being, each constituting a vibrant, existential part, quite incomplete in itself. In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, Prajapati, the primordial God, divides himself into two-man and woman, the symbols of cosmic polarity deriving sustenance from the same source.

The Hindu woman as life partner has a fourfold character: she is ardhangini, one half of the her husband, metaphorically speaking; sahadharmini, an associate in the fulfilment of human and divine goals; sahakarmini, a part to all her husband’s action and sahayogini, a veritable co-operator in all his ventures. Husband and wife together are called dampati, joint owners of the household, sharing work in terms of their biological, psychological and individual dharma. The former provides the seed (bija) and the latter the field for its fructification, so that humans could be perpetuating in the cosmic process of evolution. Both have the joint responsibility of helping their children grow in all respects, but the contribution of the wife is always immense.

As life partner the Hindu woman has equal right to participate in religious right to participate in religious rites and ceremonies; in fact, certain sacrifices like the Sita harvest sacrifice, the Rudrayaga for suitable sons-in-law or the Rudrabali sacrifice for material prosperity are performed by women alone. Hindu lawgivers like Gobhila and Asvalayana ordain that no ritual or sacrifice can be complete (sampurna) without the presence of the wife. Even Rama had to order for Sita’s statue in gold to make up for her absence during this asvamedha sacrifice. In the Ramayana, Rama’s mother Kausalya offers oblations to the fire god Agni and Tara performs the Svastyayana ritual for the success of her husband Bali against Sugriva. Women of those days were quite learned in the Vedic lore. Draupadi was a brahmavadini  and Tara an adept at reciting mystic syllables. Oghavati, Arundhati and Sulabha possessed a thorough knowledge of the Vedas and imparted religious knowledge even to rishis. The spiritual attainments of Savitri and Anusuya have become legendary. In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad one meets women of wisdom such as Maitreyi and Gargi. The former abandoned wealth for wisdom and the latter entered into a debate with sage Yajnavalkya at the court of King Janaka . Much later, Bharati, the wife of Mandana Misra, carried forward the tradition by acting as judge in the philosophic debate between her husband and Shankaracharya. When she found her husband losing the debate, she emphatically told Shankaracharya that his victory would be complete only if he could defeat her, since she constituted her husband’s better half.

Where women are honoured, there the gods are pleased; but where they are not honoured, no sacred rites yield rewards. ‘Offspring, (due performance of) religious rites, faithful service, the highest conjugal happiness and heavenly bliss for the ancestors and oneself depend on one’s wife alone’.

Manu declares that the perfect man is one who constitutes a trinity made up of his wife, himself and their off spring, the wife being a gift from the Gods; she ought to be supported to the end of her life. If Manu points out of seductive nature of women, he is equally unsure of the unbridled passion of men. He advises that wise men must not be in the company of even their own mothers, sisters or daughters in a lonely place, for they may deviate from the right path! Manu regards woman as a precious unit of the family and of society but denies them absolute freedom due to their physical vulnerability. He, however, distinguishes between the noble and virtuous and the degenerate women, and like other smrtikaras criticizes those who are faithless, fickle, sensuous, immodest, quarrelsome and loose. ‘Day and night women must be kept in dependence upon males and if the attached themselves to sensual enjoyments they must be kept under one’s control’. Manu prescribes capital punishment for killers of women, exempts pregnant and old women from paying fines and suggests that as mater of courtesy, they should be given precedence when crossing the road.

He meant thereby that they were not different from each other. The Hindu scriptures lay emphasis on harmony between husband and wife that is so essential for family peace and prosperity. Harmony requires understanding, which can only be among equals. In the Rig Veda, the couple jointly prays: ‘May all Devas and Apas unite our hearts. May Matarisva, dhata, Destri all bind us close.’

The highest duty of man and wife says Manu, is to be faithful to each other. While the supreme duty of the husband is to safeguard his wife, to care for her needs and necessities, and to keep her happy with gift and presents, the wife is expected to be pious and chaste, sincere and faithful to her partner, gentle, suave, skilled and sweet- tongued.

Although the concept of pati-paramesvara (regarding one’s husband as god) has suffered an erosion in the wake of women’s empowerment, respect for the husband continues, as is evident from the observance by Hindu women of such traditional vows as Vata Savitri, Haritalika and Karka Chaturthi - all aimed at a long and happy conjugal life.

Nowhere do the accredited Hindu scriptures ordain that women should be abused, disgraced, chastised without reason or divorced in ordinary circumstances. Yet expectation from women as life partners has been many and varied. The best female partner, according to a popular Sanskrit adage, is one who renders advice like a minister, obeys like a maidservant, feeds like a mother, pleases like the nymph Rambha, acts as a veritable companion, and has the forbearance of Mother Earth.

But, Sexual pleasure is no pleasure at all. It is a mental delusion. These beautiful women and wealth are the instruments of Maya to delude you and entrap you into her nets.

Some ignorant people say: “It is not right to check passion. We must not go against nature. Why has God created young beautiful women? There must be some sense, in His creation. We should enjoy them and procreate as many as possible. We should keep up the progeny of the line. If all people become sannyasins and go to forests, what will become of this world? It will come to an end. If we check passion,

What is this sex energy? This energy, this sex energy, is a manifestation of God. It is Brahman in dynamic expression. It is Shakti, Para Shakti. We all know that this phenomenal universe is the activity of the cosmic power calls this which is illimitable, indescribable and infinite. We call this cosmic power Para Shakti, Maha Shakti, Maha Maya or Prakriti.

The sex instinct is most powerful. The sex urge is formidable. It may conceal itself in underground compartments in the mind and assail you when you are not vigilant. It will attack you with redoubled force. Visvamitra fell a victim of Menaka. Another great Rishi became a prey to Rambha. Jaimini got excited by false woman Masa. A powerful Rishi was excited by the sight of the mating of a fish. A householder aspirant carried away even his guru’s wife. Many aspirants are not aware of this secret urge, a treacherous enemy. They think that they are quite safe and pure. When they are put to test, they become hopeless victims

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad-1
The Creation and Its Cause

We go singly, independently, alone and un-befriended without any association, any appendage whatsoever. But we take something with us. Like an encrustation that has grown upon us, the forces of Karma cling to our subtle body which alone departs when the physical body is shed. Lingam mano yatra nisaktam asya: ‘The mind which is the ruling principle in the subtle body carries with it the result of its actions, the Karma-Phala,’ which clings to it like a leech. It will not leave it, wherever it goes. In some other Upanishad it is said that a calf finds its own mother even in the midst of a thousand cows by moving hither and thither in the herd; as it goes to its own mother though the cows may be thousands in number, likewise our Karma will find us wherever we are. We may go to the highest heaven, but the Karma is not going to leave us. We may go to the nether regions; it is not going to leave us. We may go to any corner of creation, but this is not going to leave us. It will find us.

In the beginning, this universe was the self (Viraj) alone, in the shape of a person. He reflected and saw nothing else but His self. He first said: "I am He." Therefore He came to be known by the name I (Aham). Hence, even now, when a person is addressed, he first says: "It is I," and then says whatever other name he may have. And because He, before (purva) the whole group of aspirants, burnt (aushat) all evils, therefore He is called Purusha. He who knows this verily burns up him who wishes to be Viraj in advance of him.

He was afraid. Therefore people still are afraid when alone. He thought: "Since there is nothing else but myself, what am I afraid of?" Thereupon His fears were gone; for what was there to fear? Assuredly, it is from a second entity that fear arises.

He was not at all happy. Therefore a person even today is not happy when alone. He desired a mate. He became the size of a man and wife in close embrace. He divided this body into two. From that division arose husband (pati) and wife (patni). Therefore, as Yajnavalkya said, the body before one accepts a wife is one half of oneself, like the half of a split pea. Therefore this space is indeed filled by the wife. He was united with her. From that union human beings were born.

Prajapati said to Himself: "Well, let Me make a firm basis for it (semen)." So He created woman. Having created her, He placed her below and worshipped her. Therefore one should worship a woman, placing her below. He (Prajapati) extended His organ that projects and with it impregnated her.

Her lap is the sacrificial altar, her hair the sacrificial grass, her skin within the organ the lighted fire; the two labia of the vulva are the two stones of the soma—press. He who, knowing this, practices sexual intercourse wins as great a world as is won through the Vajpayee sacrifice; he acquires for himself the fruit of the good deeds of the woman. But he who, without knowing this, practices sexual intercourse turns over to the woman his own good deeds.

If a man desires his wife with the thought: "May she enjoy love with me," then, after inserting the member in her, joining mouth to mouth and stroking her organ, he should utter the following mantra:

"O semen, you have been produced from my every limb; especially from my heart through the essence of food you are the essence of the limbs. Bring this woman under my control, like a deer pierced by a poisoned arrow."

Now, the wife whom he desires with the thought: "May she conceives"—after inserting the member in her and joining mouth to mouth, he should inhale and then exhale, repeating the following mantra: "With power, with semen, I deposit semen in you." Thus she verily becomes pregnant.

Then he embraces her, repeating the following mantra: I am the vital breath and you are speech. You are speech and I am the vital breath. I am Semen and you are Rig; I am heaven and you are earth. Come; let us strive together so that we may have a male child."

Then he spreads apart her thighs, repeating the following mantra: "Spread yourselves apart, Heaven and Earth."

Inserting the member in her and joining mouth to mouth, he strokes her three times from head to foot, repeating the following mantra:

"Let Vishnu make the womb capable of bearing a son! Let Tvashtra shape the various limbs of the child! Let Prajapati pour in the semen! Let Dhatra support the embryo! O Sinivali, make her conceive; O goddess whose glory is widespread, make her conceive! May the two Atvins, garlanded with lotuses, support the embryo!

"Let the two Atvins chum the womb with the two golden arani sticks! I am placing a seed in your womb to be delivered in the tenth month. As the earth has fire in its womb, as heaven is pregnant with the sun, as the quarters are impregnated by air, so I am impregnating you by placing this seed in your womb."

After the reciting of the mantra, he utters his own name and that of his wife and places the seed.

She reflected: "How can he unite with me after having produced me from himself? Well, let me hide myself." She became a cow, the other (Manu) became a bull and was united with her; from that union cows were born. The one became a mare, the other became a stallion; the one became a she—ass, the other became a he—ass and was united with her; from that union one—hoofed animals were born. The one became a she—goat, the other became a he—goat; the one became a hew, the other became a ram and was united with her; from that union goats and sheep were born. Thus, indeed, he produced everything that exists in pairs, down to the ants.

"Man, O Gautama, woman is the fire, the open mouth is its fuel, the vital breath its smoke, speech its flame, the eye its coals and the ear its sparks. In this fire the gods offer food as libation. Out of that offering semen is produced.

"Woman, O Gautama, Man is the fire, her sexual organ is the fuel, the hairs the smoke, the vulva the flame, sexual intercourse the coals, enjoyment the sparks. In this fire the gods offer semen as libation. Out of this offering a man is born. He lives as long as he is to live. Then, when he dies,

To cooperate in others' pleasures is also a duty. "Never repulse a woman who offers herself," says the Chandogya Upanishad.

In the cosmic scheme man represents Purusha (the Person, Spirit) and woman Prakriti (Nature, Primal Matter), both of whom unite to keep the world going. So goes the Vedic verse: ‘I am He, you are she; I am song, you are verse; I am heaven, you are earth. We two shall here together dwell becoming parents of children’.

The earth is verily the essence of all these beings, water is the essence of the earth, herbs of water, flowers of herbs, fruits of flowers, man of fruits and semen is the essence of man.

The Hidden Source of Vital - Spiritual Energy -2 (Kama)

The sons deprived of motherly affections and the daughters bereft of father’s love and protections are often found to lack in healthy psychological development. The presence of boys and girls both among the children augments the happy ambience of a family. The boys who have no company of sisters and similarly the girls without having brothers remain deprived of overall development of personality and risk some hindrance in mental evolution. With the emergence of youth one has to arrange for a married life. Healthy association between husband and wife together would offer natural boost to each other’s progress in all dimensions of life. In old age, affectionate interaction with the (grand) sons and (grand) daughters also provides extra sublime support to the hidden consciousness of the (grand) mothers and (grand) fathers respectively.

Renowned psychologists like Dr. Freud, though in a narrowed sense of the word, have advocated "kama" as the utmost need of human life. It is affirmed to be fulfilled in intimate interactions, amicable alliance between the opposite genders. Somehow in our country, the Sanskrit (or Hindi) word "kama" is mostly used to imply sexual pleasure or related desires. This is why it is often discarded as an erotic or obscene terminology and the concept of inevitability of kama appears debased and unacceptable to many of us. But a sane consideration of the overall meaning of the word with scientific outlook and an open mind would convey that kama is indeed an eternal necessity reflected in origin and infinite expansion –– right from the commingling of prakrati and purusha and the gross generation of life…, to the contributions of married life in the society and sustenance of the world. Finding flaws in this interpretation or countering it by some linguistic analysis etc would only be a prejudiced and futile exercise of arguments.

Unmindful and uncontrolled use of any resource is risky. Extremities or exploitation of everything should be avoided. Incontinence and greed of unwise, short-sighted people often cross limits in unchecked, insidious misuse of the faculties of sense organs. Look at the state of our tongue, for instance. Many of us have ruined its vital power in abusive, bitter and false speech and all kinds of unhealthy (though lavish) foods and invited physical and mental sufferings and economical and moral decrepitude in several respects. This is not the flaw of the natural faculties of taste and voice endowed in the tongue. If restrained, refined and used wisely, this tiny organ alone could serve great purposes in enlightened progress of our life.

The same is the case of the genitals (the sex-organs). If these are restrained carefully together with adoption of brahmcarya and the nectar of kama hidden in the sex-element is enjoyed with moral purity and cautious control, the sexual indulgence too would prove to be beneficial and fulfilling like the elixir of life. After all, careful processing and medicinal use of poison makes it a life-saving drug too. However, at the same time we must note that adulteration and ill usage of these are always detrimental and could convert even the nectar into a deadly toxin. Thus, it is not the kama, rather, its perversion and eroticism that are debauching and should be reproached and avoided. That is why God gave double job to these two Indriya (Tongue and Sex Organ)

When the relations between a daughter and father, sister and brother, or mother and son could be so sacred, happy and healthy, why would those between other kinds of social interactions between the two sexes be pernicious? Take for instance the case of husband and wife. This relationship could be most enlightening and exceptionally encouraging for unalloyed progress of both if insulated from the aberrations of sensual lust. Marriage in such cases would prove to be an excellent means of nurturing fulfilment in the lives of both the partners by healthy alliance and mutual support…. Lord Krishna had mobilized a welcome revolution in this regard.

The Indian society of those days of yore was subjected to blind traditions – even the young boys and girls were not allowed to play together. People clung to a blind conviction that meeting or interaction of men and women, of whatever age groups would lead to immoral, untoward consequences. This had darkened people’s mentality and thus captured the smiles of children too in the barrier of social absurdity; little boys and girls were not able to laugh or play together under these baseless constraints.

Lord Krishna removed these suppressive barriers and encouraged healthy alliance between the two sexes by way of organizing the blissful programmes of "Raas Lila" in which the boys and girls, men and women all used to play and dance together. He found it illogical to discriminate among humans on gender basis; so what if one section of the human society can grow moustaches and the other doesn’t. How could the difference between the anatomies of the genitals make one sex inferior or harmful to the other in any way? In fact, this difference in the physical and psychological nature of the two sexes is a remarkable symbol of Nature’s art that offers soothing mutual complementarities’ among them. The sick mentality that the two different sexes would commit mistakes and indulge in obscene, amoral acts whenever they associate is an extreme of mistrust of humans towards themselves.

Chastity of conduct, virtuous development of character could be ensured only by refinement from within. This demands inculcation of sraddha prudence and farsightedness towards noble ideals and human dignity. Social norms should not prohibit healthy alliance, interaction and collaboration between the two sexes; else the society would be deprived of the great benefits available from the joint efforts, mutual support of its two major pillars. Lord Krishna had propagated this message effectively by his enchanting “Raas Lilas”.

The spiritual science of sublime power of the sex-element accords sacred interactions between man and woman. The intimacy of their relationship as married couple could also incorporate sensual connections and mutual satisfaction of sex. There should be no restriction on healthy association, joint efforts and social unions of men and women in general. As two or more men or women can share the joy of friendship without any risk or suspicion, the same way men and women could also maintain unstained, respectful alliance. This natural, serene, sober association should not be prohibited.

The mutually supplementing powers of prana, soma and agni, and swaha and swadha in man and woman are of unique biological, psychological and spiritual importance. The conjugation of these sublime elements holds limitless potentials of genesis, creation and blissful evolution at higher realms of Nature. Reproduction or growth of population is a very crude and negligible expression of this astonishing effect. These two subliminal streams of the source of consciousness and manifestation of Nature should be recognized and realized through the deeper science of spirituality. Sagacity of human mind should check the risk of tragic decline and extinction of human species by preventing the perverted dissipation of the immense energy of kama – hidden in the sex-element – in erotic passions. This sublime power should rather be channelized wisely for the overall augmentation of the physical, mental and spiritual strength of mankind.

The activity of sex-element in copulation is a subtle biological process. The sensual lust and excitement associated with copulation could be vulgar and shameful. Erotic description of the same could be detrimental and should therefore be avoided. However, knowing the roots of this process in Nature, deciphering the higher dimensions of the vital force and the deeper science of kama, is neither untoward nor vulgar. It is indeed a part of the Panchagni Vidya – the Vedic science of genesis and evolution of prana that has been lost in the mist of ignorance and tides of time. Neglect of this great knowledge has caused enough harm to our own lives and potentials. The deep knowledge of multiple aspects of the bioelectrical force and prana in the sex-elements of man and woman is dealt in the spiritual science of kama. It should be studied with same sincerity and investigative attitude as any other branch of science.

THE WORKING OF THE SEX IMPULSE

Man wishes to have children to maintain the race or line. This is the reproductive instinct. The desire to copulate proceeds from this sexual instinct. The strength of the sexual desire depends upon the sexual impulse.

According to the Gita, impulse is
Vegam or force. Lord Krishna says, "He who is able to endure here on earth, before he is liberated from the body, the force born of desire and passion, he is harmonised, he is a happy man".

Impulse is a mighty force. It exerts influence on the mind. It is a force suddenly communicated to the mind.

Just as petrol or steam moves the engine, the instincts and impulses move this body. The instincts are the prime movers of all human activities. They give a push to the body and move the Indriyas to action. The instincts create habits. The instinctive impulses supply the driving power by which all mental activities are kept up. These impulses are mental forces. They operate through the mind and the intellect. They mould the life of a man. The mystery of life lies in them. The attraction towards women in men is born of Rajas. That unknown attraction and happiness in their company is the seed of the sex impulse. This attraction, which is like a bubble in the beginning, later on assumes the form of a formidable, uncontrollable wave of strong passion or sexual appetite.

You must understand the psychological working of the sex impulse. When there are itches on the body, mere scratching of them is a pleasure. The sex impulse is only a nervous itching. The satisfaction of this impulse begets a delusive pleasure, but it has a positive effect on the spiritual well-being of the person.

For all Friends Who read my writings

I was told on many occasions that I'm being too long in whatever I wanted to say because I found it necessary to explain. The advice used to be; "getting to the point! We understand what you're saying." I used to get annoyed but these wise old people, my parents were giving me sagacious advice

Dear... if you see all my writings/blogs are lengthy but then too they are well read and responded...as I have a notion that ... updated wisdom and spiritualism cannot be delivered as 2 minute noodles.

There are so many young students who read my blogs.... they are not so matured and experience as some of you.... people love novels .. I can full empathy you have less time then too you come and bless me on my blog.... you see ... I may not blogging here as killing my time.... I am here to give some awareness... I like to focus on one blog for a month by interacting with guests than blogging daily a new blog...please understand me..... my blogs are completely different... and a sincere and serious effort to deliver logical spiritualism and god FREE... People here are not so modern yet ... they are very primitive in their approach... their personal religions disallow them to walk straight collectively with humanism... they are divided by religions...

Valmikhi ji was a dacoit and murderer first. He was a changed person when some Rishi asked him to ask his family if they will share his punishments for the sins he do every day. His family said they won’t share his sins... from the day he changed into a good soul...

We have so many lessons to learn from holy literatures of all religions, but people want to dig fossils and stick to 'wordy archaeologist' mere. They don’t want to become or adhere to updated practical wisdoms which are the need of the hour. 'They are bus lakir ke fakir ' and walk in herd.

In fact As per Wikipedia 'Spiritualism' is different from 'spirituality' ... first we don’t know what is meant by spirituality? And the spiritualism? and the latest ism is called "LIFEISM'' This is the imported ism from the US in place of SPIRITUALITY.... In US our Indian spiritual masters are deliberately manufacturing so many isms from the concept of spirituality, and they export their spiritual products to various nations all over the world ... now a day it is a big corporate business in US. Now they are searching good markets for their new isms in the world. India has become their major market for their spiritual products made in US.

Daily you will find in TV a new Guru preaching on Spirituality. And there are numerous followers also. It is hot market.

I too know spiritualism is not the right word...but there is no option for the word 'Adhiatmikta' and saying 'mediation' is not imp active.

I feel and find people on much more learned and wiser what we do is not for others it is a simple fact. First and foremost it made me happy and then anybody else. We human beings yet have not evolved that much--still a long way to go. Writing and applying in life are two different things

The Hidden Source of Vital - Spiritual Energy -1 (Kama)

Gayatri – the Eternal Supreme Power of God is revered as the origin of the infinite gamut of spiritual, conscious, unconscious and super-conscious faculties, cosmic energy and material existence. The cosmic power of Gayatri used for the creation and perceivable manifestation of the universe is named as Savitri. The higher-level sadhanas of Gayatri and Savitri include the endeavours of awakening and activation of Kundalini and the unfolding and sublime transmutation of the Pancha kosas. Before going into this deeper science, we may attempt understanding its basic elements. Kama – the subtle source of sex-element, zealous vitality, sublime creativity, joy and emotional exaltation, is the seed of manifestation of Kundalini – the hidden energy of cosmic grandeur. The sagacious, enlightened personalities are aware of this precious source and therefore use it cautiously for creative purposes. We too should know the importance and deeper depths of the spiritual science of kama and proceed along the path of sadhanas as per our present mental makeup.

The physical science regards atom as the basic unit of matter. As per the hypotheses prevalent until half a century ago, the origin and properties of matter and hence all its reactions and energy-variations were attributed to specific arrangements, distributions and motions of the subatomic particles in the nuclei of its atoms. Further research had discovered that the atom or subatomic particles are not the most basic entities, rather, these are consequences. After the theories of (quantum) energy waves etc, it is now believed that the root cause of the manifestation of Nature is some kind of cosmic vibration that could be regarded as generating the physical as well as conscious energy waves; the sparks of which motivate the motion of subatomic and subtler particles and give rise to the physical existence of the universe and control its expansion and ultimate destruction.

The science of spirituality begins at much deeper levels. It affirms the origin of Nature and cosmic expansion through the evolutionary impulse generated by the commingling of prakrati and purusha. These (prakrati and purusha) are also referred as prana, sakti and siva, or agni and soma in the Vedic literature. We may think of these as sublime cosmic power currents of mutually complementary nature. As the flow of electricity is not possible without both the positive and negative currents, no energy or motion could be realized in Nature without the vibrating linkage of prakrati and purusha.

The Sankhya school of Vedic Philosophy describes that the cosmic impulse induced by the vibrating linkage – consistent cycle of mutual commingling and separation, originate the evolving existence of the para and apara forms of Nature. We get the first experience of this effect in the motion of (sub) atomic particles. A clock starts and continues operating with the harmonic motion of its pendulum. Similarly, the existence and unlimited activities of Nature commence and continue with the vibrating linkage of prakrati and purusha.

In order to explain and illustrate the deeper science and philosophy of this subliminal process, the purusha (Brahma) and prakrati are rhetorically described in the scriptures as representing the eternal man and woman. The trinity Gods: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva - symbolize the powers of eternal creation, maintenance and evolution. The Goddesses referred as their respective consorts are Savitri/Sarswati, Lakshmi and Shakti/Parvati. Hidden behind this rhetoric description of divine couples is the fact that the eternal Being (purusha) is incomplete without prakrati. No creation, no life and no growth would be possible without the conjunction of the two. There would be nothing except the absolute void. From the anthropological viewpoint, the conjugation of the mutually supplementary powers of man (male) and woman (female) is the root cause of all the gross existence of the world. The confluence or coupling of the two naturally complementary streams of the sex-element gives birth to new life. This reaction is like generation of spark from friction, from impulsive cycle of conjugation and separation.

The vibrating linkage in the sublime domains of Nature is also reflected in every expression of life, every process of the living body. For example, the respiratory cycle, the consecutive compression and expansion of the muscles, the beating of the heart, the pulsating flow of blood, the cyclic growth and division of the cells, the rhythmic cascade of molecular interactions etc…. Any disruption in this system invites the terror of death. This is true not only for the gross body, but also in every expression of Nature. Like the high and low tides of the sea, every activity in the universe is based on the cosmic impulse of the vibrating linkage – cyclic conjunction and disjunction of what is termed in the science of spirituality as prakrati and purusha or prana.

Human life entirely depends upon this eternal cosmic process. What is transacted by the prakrati and purusha in the subliminal realms of cosmic creation is supposed to be performed by man and woman together in the gross domains of life on this earth. The alliance of the two is therefore essential on the social fronts. Apart from the exceptional cases of individuals living singly because of some unavoidable compulsion or because of some ascetic ideals or noble aims, the life-partnership (as married couples in general) or company of man and woman is the most natural, common and favourable mode of life in the human society. No one would object to accept that the natural growth and happiness of life is sustained on the association of man and woman.

It should be noted that the intimate companionship of man and woman is required not only for reproduction or carnal pleasure. The joy of sexual linkage and desire of having offspring may trigger such relationships in a couple. However, this is not all. In fact, the intimate association between the two enables creative channelization of kama in both and thus helps arousal of their otherwise dormant consciousness; this soothing exaltation is required in every moment of life. The attachment of a child with his mother and eagerness of being in her lap or proximity are also indicative of this natural requirement.

Guru

The word Guru comes from “Gur” which in Hindi, means a person who masters an art. Guru thus means one who is proud of it and wants to use it. Most Gurus use the latest technology to influence people and make them disciples.

Now a day to have a Guru is a status symbol. When your Guru comes to your house in your big Car, you invite all the bigwigs in the neighbourhood. Your popularity index shoots up.

In the material World, we are well aware of the rat race. When we get tired of it, we turned to spirituality; but here too, we end up doing something similar. We start running the ‘seeking race’. So we move from one Guru to another. We shop for one cult or another. From Osho, we move to Radhaswamy, Nirankari, Asharam, then to Ramdev and then to another, many such Guru are available on Astha, Sanshkar, TV Channels. Promotional material, CD’s and books of various Gurus start  piling up on our table. We seek the truth with the philosophies of these Gurus till someone comes along and tells us that another Guru is much better and that the Guru we are following is fake.

We pick up our bags and run to the next Guru shop. Once again, we do spiritual shopping and then again and yet again...the peace we were searching is completely lost. We run after Buddha and start chanting; we run to a Krishna cult and start dancing, sometime we even change our religion. Six months down the line, we are the same---depressed, lost and without hope, nothing seems to live up to its promise. We enrol the expensive course. We go through ‘clever’ workshops, which demonstrate their effectiveness with brilliant examples.

We, actually, feel the change for a few days and then it’s back to square one.

It is the approach that has gone wrong. Instead of internalising spirituality, we have externalised it. We look for magical solutions and like typically successful marketers, specialist guru-marketing, organisations makes a fool of us. They sell us empty concepts at huge prices, because they have no real content; they are ineffective. A Guru marketing organisation cannot have a true Guru at its heart that is for certain.

There are seekers who have been seeking for years and who take pride in announcing that you are studying since decades and have reached nowhere even you are in your 80’s  and dying ?

Jesus’ 12 disciples saw him performing so many miracles, but doubted him all along, Judas even betrayed him. So why couldn’t they see divinity in Christ ? What prevented them ? it is the ego, as long as you seek with ego, you will end up pampering your ego. You have to seek by surrendering. When you surrender your heart; the seat of the Divine starts guiding you. you are able to see which Guru is genuine and who is fake. Your heart tells you. According to Kabir, you have to worship your Guru as God. There is God in Temple and books and Holy places, but like blind men and women, we are unable to find Him. Only a Guru can help us open our eyes and see Him. That why a Guru is equal to God in your life.

Our spiritual journey begins when we stop seeking and start meditating, using the technique taught by our Guru. The Guru is a master and knows best. A Guru is one who helps you become your own Guru and make you independent. You shed your ego and your bad habits.

So stop Guru shopping, start meditating and begin your spiritual journey. God is in you. Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Saswati, Laxmi, Durga and all Devi Devta are inside you. Only you have to invoke them.

Let us begin with........ Kabir’s views on God’s whereabouts:

तेरा साँई तुझमें ज्यों पहुपन में बास, कस्तूरी का हिरन ज्यों, फिर-फिर ढूंढत घास

-God is always within, outside search is useless !

Now look at the beauty of his revelation of God:

 – God is, where faith is !

Let me say, these are the wonderful life management fundas. Who says spirituality is not practical ? It is more and much more………………..Always in pursuit of Truth.
