Curing Insomnia Through Meditation

Insomnia is the complaint of insufficient (not enough) or poor quality sleep because of difficulty getting off to sleep, difficulty maintaining sleep, waking up too early in the morning and/or unrefreshing sleep that occurs on a regular basis.

The most common causes of insomnia are stress; psychological conditions like depression, anxiety (worry) or schizophrenia; certain prescription drugs; over the counter medications which may contain caffeine and other stimulants; intake of coffee, alcohol or tobacco; some medical conditions; biological factors; changes in lifestyle; environmental changes; etc.

Insomnia can be treated using various medications, but these medicines are accompanied by various side effects. Moreover continuous use of these drugs may result in dependence on them. This creates a situation in which sleep is not possible unless the drug is used.

In order to successfully win over the problem of insomnia, lie down in bed visualizing and experiencing the meditation commentary given below regularly for a few minutes, just before going to sleep. Meditation works by relaxing the mind. The peaceful mind quickly spreads its effect to the hypothalamus, the region where the sleep centre is located. When the blockage there is removed, natural and peaceful functioning of the sleep centre is restored.

I am a soul, glowing powerfully in the centre of the forehead.... ....

I travel outside the physical body and physical world to fly to my sweet silent home of golden red light....... .

I am now in front of the Supreme Point, the Ocean of Peace....... .

I experience soothing (relaxing) rays of spiritual peace from this unlimited source of peace descending on me........

I am bathing in the Fountain of Peace....... .

The experience of the union with the Almighty gives me a deep feeling of relaxation.. ......

It brings my original qualities to the surface of my consciousness. .......

As I release my negative emotions, my tensions and worries are minimized, therefore, I feel free and light....... .

I am able to concentrate on this practice of meditation.. ......

My eyes are becoming heavier and heavier..... ...

I allow myself to fall into a deep and satisfying sleep....... .

I let go off my bodily parts....... .

Slowly reduce the speed of meditative thoughts and let the natural physical sleep phenomenon do its work. While you lie down in bed in a comfortable dark atmosphere you will automatically fall asleep.

Many of our friends face this issue. Just give a try, you will definitely be successful (hello. this we have to do ourselves only please!!). Sound sleep is very important in our life; as also sufficient sleep.

All the very best my friends...lets do meditate and convert our negatives into positive...

Power of our Thoughts

Thoughts carry tremendous creative power. Consciously or not, before every spoken word, there is a thought. In the same way, there is a thought preceding every action. Since thoughts shape our words and behaviors, they inevitably shape our environment, relationships and destiny.

As part of our unique human power, our higher reasoning process separates us from other species. With our birth gifts of higher thoughts, inventions are made and modern civilization becomes a reality.

Unfortunately, most of us do not utilize the power of thoughts effectively. Instead of managing our thoughts positively and using them to create a better reality, we have become powerless with our thoughts.

For example, how many of us catch ourselves daydreaming often and allow our mind to wonder from places to places without much control? On the other hand, how many of us try to control our lives ineffectively by allowing repetitively negative thoughts to dominate our mind such as worrying obsessively.

Without learning to master the power of our thoughts, no wonder we feel anxious and depressed most of the time! The power of our thoughts truly deserves our better attention as the quality of our thoughts determines the quality of our life.

Negative thoughts create negative state of mind; therefore, they produce negative actions following by negative results. This sounds bad, doesn’t it? The good news is that in the same way, high quality thoughts create high quality state of mind; therefore, they produce positive actions and wonderful and positive results. Isn’t this a great incentive for us to pay attention and learn to monitor our thoughts carefully?

A good exercise is to start paying attention to the quality of our thoughts for a day. Your job is to reject any negative or limited thoughts as soon as they surface. Any “I can’t” or “too” judgments are out of the windows immediately. You might be surprised by how many negative thoughts you think daily. You might also discover that some of these thoughts are not even originally yours! What a relief! When I first started this exercise, I noticed that there were more negative thoughts than positive ones. Most of the negative thoughts were not even valid. Unfortunately, they had become part of my “thinking habits”. Eventually, I learned that the price I had paid for my habitual negative thoughts were way too high as they robbed away my happiness and my ability to create a good life. Becoming conscious of the power of our thoughts is a necessity to improve the quality of our lives.

Life is double sided; There is a wrong side and a right side; A sad side and happy side. There is a good side and a nad side. A black side and bright side. So if things seems dark to you, just change your thoughts about. Life will look quite different if you turn it best side out.

Make the best of life moments. What really matters at the end of the day is if you’ve made the best use of time, And done everything that you needed to do. Don’t sit just there waiting. Because you only live once.

Starting today, pay good attention to your thought quality. Use the power of your thoughts to create a good life because it is your birth right!

As each of us becomes more conscious and becomes the master of our mind, we together can use our mind in creating more beauty, joy and goodness in the world.

Lessons of the Square Watermelon :

Japanese grocery stores had a problem. They are much smaller than shops in other countries and therefore don’t have room to waste. Watermelons, big and round, wasted a lot of space. Most people would simply tell the grocery stores that the watermelons grow round and there is nothing that can be done about it.

That is how majority of people would respond. But some Japanese farmers took a different approach. If the supermarkets wanted a square watermelon, they asked themselves, ‘How can we provide one?’ It wasn’t long before they invented the square watermelon
The solution to the problem of round watermelons was not to solve as the farmers did no assume it was impossible – and simply asked how it could be done.

They found out that if you put the watermelon in a square box when they are growing, the watermelon will take on to the shape of the box- and grow into a square fruit.

This made the grocery stores happy and had the added benefit that it was much easier and cost effective to ship the watermelons. Consumers also loved them because they took less space in their refrigerators which are much smaller then those in other countries, meaning that the grower could charge a premium price for them.

What does this have to do with anything in life or at our job? There are a few Lessons that can you can take away from this story which helps you,

Don’t assume; The major problem was that most people had always seen round watermelons so they automatically assumed that square watermelons were impossible before even thinking about the question. Things that you have been doing a certain way your entire life have taken on the aura of the round watermelon and you likely don’t even take the time to consider if there is another way to do it. Breaking yourself from assuming this way can greatly improve your overall life as you are constantly looking for new and better ways to do things.

Question habits : The best way to tackle these assumptions is to question your habits. If you can make an effort to question the way you do things on a consistent basis, you will find that you can continually improve the way that you work. Forming habits when they have been well thought out is usually a positive thing, but most of us have adopted our habits from various people and places without even thinking about them.

Be Creative: When faced with a problem, be creative in looking for a solution. This often requires thinking outside the box. Most people who viewed this question likely thought they were being asked how they could genetically alter watermelons to grow square which would be a much more difficult process to accomplish. By looking at the question from an alternative perspective, however, the solution was quite simple. Being creative and looking at things in different ways in all portions of your live will help you find solutions to many problems where others can’t see them.

Look for a better way: The square watermelon question was simply seeking a better and more convenient way to do something. The stores had flagged a problem they were having and asked if a solution was possible. It’s impossible to finds a better way if you are never asking the question in the first place. Get into the habit of asking yourself, “Is there a better way I could be doing this ?” and you will find there often is.

Impossibilities often aren’t : If you begin with the notion that something is impossible, then it obviously will be for you. If, on the other hand, you decide to see if something is possible or not, you will find out through trail and error. Take away the lessons from the square watermelons and apply them to all areas in Your life (work, finances, relationships etc) and you will find out that by consistently applying them, you will constantly be improving all aspects of your life.

I AM SURE WE CAN BRING ABOUT CHANGE IF WE REALLY WANT TO.

ALEXANDER THE GREAT'S LAST WORDS

The world's best two line poem:

"Ice melts when heated
"Eyes melt when hated

Alexander, after conquering many kingdoms, was returning home. On the way, he fell ill and it took him to his death bed. With death staring him in his face, Alexander realized how his conquests, his great army, his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no consequence.

He now longed to reach home to see his mother's face and bid her his last adieu. But, he had to accept the fact that his sinking health would not permit Him to reach his distant homeland. So, the mighty conqueror lay prostrate and pale, helplessly waiting to breathe his last.

He called his generals and said, "I will depart from this world soon, I have three wishes, please carry them out without fail."

With tears flowing down their cheeks, the generals agreed to abide by their king's last wishes.

"My first desire is that", said Alexander,
"My physicians alone must" carry my coffin."

After a pause, he continued, "Secondly, I desire that when my coffin is being carried to the grave, the path leading to the graveyard be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones which I have collected in my treasury".

The king felt exhausted after saying this. He took a minute's rest and continued. "My third and last wish is that both my hands be kept dangling out of my coffin".

The people who had gathered there wondered at the king's strange wishes. But no one dared bring the question to their lips.. Alexander's favorite general kissed his hand and pressed them to his heart. "O king, we assure you that your wishes will all be fulfilled. But tell us why do you make such strange wishes?"

At this Alexander took a deep breath and said: "I would like the world to know of the three lessons I have just learnt.

Lessons to learn from last 3 wishes of King Alexander...

I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that no doctor can really cure any body. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for granted.

The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the way to the graveyard is to tell People that not even a fraction of gold will come with me. I spent all my life earning riches but cannot take anything with me. Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.

And about my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I wish people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty handed I go out of this world".

With these words, the king closed his eyes. Soon he let death conquer him and breathed his last. . .

LESSON TO LEARN

1. Remember, your good health is in your own hands, Look after it.

2. Wealth is only meaningful if you can enjoy while you are still alive and kicking.

3. What you do for yourself dies with you but what you do for others lives on "Legacy".

Take care of your parents....
A simple man tells how his booking an air ticket for his father, his first flight, brought emotions and made him realize that how much we all take for granted when it comes to our parents.

My parents left for our native place on Thursday and we went to the airport to see them off. In fact, my father had never traveled by air before, so I just took this opportunity to make him experience the same.

In spite of being asked to book tickets by train, I got them tickets on Flight.

The moment I handed over the tickets to him, he was surprised to see that I had booked them by air.

The excitement was very apparent on his face, waiting for the time of travel. Just like a school boy, he was preparing himself on that day and we all went to the airport, right from using the trolley for his luggage, the baggage check-in and asking for window seat and waiting restlessly for the security check-in to happen. He was thoroughly enjoying himself and I, too, was overcome with joy watching him experience all these things.

As they were about to go in for the security check-in, he walked up to me with tears in his eyes and thanked me. He became very emotional and it was not as if I had done something great but the fact that this meant a great deal to him.

When he said thanks, I told him there was no need to thank me.

But later, thinking about the entire incident, I looked back at my life.

As a child how many dreams our parents have made come true. Without understanding the financial situation, we ask for football, dresses, toys, outings, etc. Irrespective of their affordability, they have satisfied to all our needs. Did we ever think about the sacrifices they had to make to accommodate many of our wishes?Did we ever say thanks for all that they have done for us?

Same way, today when it comes to our children, we always think that we should put them in a good school. Regardless of the amount of donation, we will ensure that we will have to give the child the best, theme parks, toys, etc. But we tend to forget that our parents have sacrificed a lot for our sake to see us happy, so it is our responsibility to ensure that their dreams are realized and what they failed to see when they were young, it is our responsibility to ensure that they experience all those and their life is complete.

Many times, when my parents had asked me some questions, I have actually answered back without patience. When my daughter asks me something, I have been very polite in answering. Now I realize how they would have felt at those moments.Let us realize that old age is a second childhood and just as we take care of our children, the same attention and same care need to be given to our parents and elders.Rather than my dad saying thank you to me, I would want to say sorry for making him wait so long for this small dream. I do realize how much he has sacrificed for my sake and I will do my best to give the best possible attention to all their wishes.

Just because they are old does not mean that they will have to give up everything and keep sacrificing for their grandchildren also. They have wishes, too.Take care of your parents.
