The Desire within

The desire within us is also confusion. It is not a desire for an object. What we ask for is not a thing of the world. It is something different, but we are not able to understand what it is actually. The understanding is muddled. There is a complete overturning of the cart, as it were, when the intelligence in the individual begins to operate through the senses demanding objects. The real asking of the individual is for permanent satisfaction and freedom. There is a piety and holiness, if you say, so involved in the activity of the individual. But the instruments used are inadequate for the purpose. The senses cannot contact the object for which their deepest desires are. What we ask for is infinity of possession and infinity of satisfaction and a freedom. Such a thing cannot be communicated to us through the senses because they are externalised agents.

We have bad friends in the senses, so they mislead us. They take us to objects and tell us, ‘Here is what you wanted.’ But that is not really what you wanted. Just as we can be taken along by lanes by misleading guides in a big city, the senses put us off the scent. And then, due to a misconceived longing for an appearance rather than for a reality, which we begin to really believe in, there is a perpetual effort on the part of the mind, through its will, to maintain the duration of the contact with the object for as long as possible. Now the object changes colour like a chameleon and reveal its incapacity to satisfy us at different intervals of time.

We get caught in a confusion of circumstance with which we die. The body perishes. Our life is very short. We have not got enough time to experiment with everything in the world. By the time we get fed up with even a few, the body also goes. But the desire has not gone. And the confused desire, which has not been enlightened as to the true nature of what it asks for, remains in that condition even at the time of death. The actions which were performed earlier due to this misconception, having produced results correspondingly, bind the soul once again, so that the body which was shed has gone, but a new body comes. This is the psychology or philosophy of rebirth, the whole difficulty being a misconstruing of the ultimate cause of desire that arises in our minds.

‘Attached to the sense objects, longing for things of sense, the individual sheds the body, casts off this mortal coil, takes nothing with itself.’ When we leave this world, we take nothing with us. All the associations, physical and social, are cast aside as if they do not belong to us.

We go singly, independently, alone and un-befriended without any association, any appendage whatsoever. But we take something with us. Like an encrustation that has grown upon us, the forces of Karma cling to our subtle body which alone departs when the physical body is shed. Lingam mano yatra nisaktam asya: ‘The mind which is the ruling principle in the subtle body carries with it the result of its actions, the Karma-Phala,’ which clings to it like a leech. It will not leave it, wherever it goes.

In some other Upanishad it is said that a calf finds its own mother even in the midst of a thousand cows by moving hither and thither in the herd; as it goes to its own mother though the cows may be thousands in number, likewise our Karma will find us wherever we are. We may go to the highest heaven, but the Karma is not going to leave us. We may go to the nether regions; it is not going to leave us. We may go to any corner of creation, but this is not going to leave us. It will find us.

Even as the laws of the government which has long arms try to catch us wherever we are, the laws of the cosmos catch that individual who has been responsible for the particular action. ‘Attached, the soul leaves this body; and together with the Karma, it goes.’ Where does it go? ‘Where the mind has found its habitation, there it goes.’ Where is the habitation or the location of the mind? ‘Those features of the world, those conditions or that type of atmosphere where its unfulfilled desires can be fulfilled, there the Linga-Sarira, or the Suksma-Sarira, or the subtle body, gravitates.’ Like a rocket the subtle body moves and finds its place. The cosmic law operates in such a just and inexorable manner that the subtle body is taken to the exact spot where it can fulfill all its wishes. Then what happens further?

‘Those Karmas which have to be exhausted by experience in that particular place find their completion through experience. Whatever we have done here, the result of it we experience there’

Then, what happens again? -‘From that world you come again’.

To which place do you come? -‘To this world you come for the purpose of further actions’.

Why do you do further actions?- For further bondage!

You engage again in action because your desires have not been fulfilled and the residue of the Karmas has to be further undergone by experience.

The desires get enhanced in their intensity the more they are fulfilled. The fulfillment of a desire is not the way to freedom from desire. On the other hand, the reverse is the case. Desires become, fire-like, more and more strong. They are in fact said to be the fuel of satisfaction.

Fire is never satisfied by any amount of clarified butter that you pour over it. It can swallow numerous quintals of clarified butter. The more butter you pour on it, the more ferocious does the fire become. So is desire.

‘This is the fate of the one that desires’. This is the destiny of the individual who desires and longs for things or the objects of sense.

The Upanishad shifts its emphasis to another subject. If a person does not desire, then what happens? Athakamayamanah: one who has no desire’ for objects of sense.

‘A person who does not desire, who is freed from desires, whose desires have gone, whose desires have been fully satisfied, whose desire is only for the Self’, what happens to such a person? Now, this gradation mentioned here is very interesting. Only if your desire is for the Self will your desires be fulfilled, not otherwise. You can become Apta-Kama only if you are Atma-Kama, not otherwise. Desire cannot be satisfied unless it is directed to the Self and to nothing else whatsoever. If your desire is for anything other than the Self, it is not going to be fulfilled because you are asking for that which is not there. Naturally you will not get what is not there. So, it is an Atma-Kama only who becomes Apta-Kama; the Apta-Kama in turn becomes Niskama; the Niskama becomes Akama and Akama becomes Akamayamana.

So, one who has desire centered in the Universal Self is one whose desires are all fulfilled at one stroke, which in other words means that all desires have left him. Why have all desires left that person? Because all desires have been fulfilled, the reason being that the desire itself has become merged in the Universal Self. Desires leave that person whose desires have been completely satisfied on account of their being centered in the Atman. Such a person has no desires because they have gone. Such a person is designated as Akamayamana, one who does not desire. If a person is to shed his physical body in that circumstance, without any desire remaining except for the desire of the Universal Being, what happens is that his Pranas do not move hither and thither in search of a new location; they do not move. The subtle body does not depart in space and in time; on the contrary they, the Pranas, and the senses dissolve like bubbles in the ocean then and there - na tasya prana ukramanti. Brahmaiva san brahmapyati: ‘He has been contemplating throughout his life on the Absolute Self. He gets identified with the Absolute Self then and there’. This is called in the terminology of the Upanishads and the Vedanta philosophy Sadyamukti, instantaneous liberation. It is an immediate salvation of the soul, which is attained on account of freedom from desire that has arisen on account of desire for the Atman. This is the glorious destination of the spiritual adept who spends his life in contemplation on the Universal Being.
THE SELF AT DEATH

Sometimes it can happen that one has to pass through this condition for days together. It is not that everyone passes through the same condition. Every person’s manner of death is different from that of others. But here the Upanishad gives an idea of the normal way in which people pass away from this world. Rarely do people like to leave their body. It is very dear to them. If someone were to say, ‘you have to die just now’, one would not be easily prepared for it. Whatever be one’s experience that is going to be in the future, even if it is to be better, one cannot imagine it. There is a natural clinging to the body and a feeling for this present life, due to which there is a reluctance to depart from this body. But, because of the pull from the other world, there is a tension one feels at that time. You do not want to go, but you are forced to go, and naturally you can imagine what you would feel at that time.

The Upanishad gives a comparison. Just as a bullock-cart which is heavily loaded with material, almost beyond its capacity, dragged by two powerful bulls, creaks and groans because it is heavily loaded and moves slowly and reluctantly because of the weight, somewhat in a similar manner, this individual about to expire moves out of the body reluctantly like a heavily laden cart, pulled by forces which belong to the other world, with creaks and groans caused by the weight of attachment that he still has to this world. That weight does not allow him to go freely. So he makes a kind of ‘creaking’ sound as it were. There is difficulty in breathing, or hard breathing. The Pranas depart; they are about to leave the body. In sleep, the Pranas do not leave the body.

Though the mind is withdrawn from the body, the Pranas are not withdrawn. So there is no death in sleep. Life is still present, though the mind is absent. But in the death condition, Pranas also are withdrawn. So, there is no connection between the subtle body and the physical body at the time of death. In sleep the connection is maintained, and so you return to waking life once again through this body only.

But when the Pranas are withdrawn, the last connection that obtains between the subtle body and the physical body is snapped, and the two are separated. At that time of the separation of the Pranas from the physical body there is inordinate breathing. What kind of breathing it is will differ from person to person. When a person is about to depart, indications will be seen in the physical body as well as in the mind. The person becomes emaciated and weakened in every respect.

The mind wakes up again into world-consciousness after going through the dream experiences. This waking up into world-consciousness is of two kinds. One is the experience we have when we rise up from dream and sleep. Everyday we have this waking up into the world of objects. We go to sleep everyday, we dream and go to sleep and we get up. The other kind of waking is rebirth. The condition through which one passes at the time of death is supposed to be something like the dream state. When a person is about to pass away from this world, his waking consciousness in the sense of his awareness of the sense-world, the consciousness of people outside and the feeling of the presence of things around etc. etc. diminishes in intensity, gradually. He cannot think as other people think. Then he will be in a state of dream, as it were.

Though it is of a different kind, yet it is supposed to be something like dream. It is not exactly similar to our normal dreams of daily life in every respect, in every minute detail, but it cannot be compared to any other state. It is a dream-like experience because it is not intense like waking perceptions of the world, nor is it a complete obliteration of consciousness like in sleep. It is not abolition of all feeling. There is some sensation. And they say, when you are about to pass away from this world, you have some perceptions of the other world also. You will begin to see certain things. The feelings will indicate where you are going. The other world will begin to reveal itself in some modicum.

Just as when you cross the boundary of one country and enter into another country, you will see the police of this country as well as that country. This police will see what you are taking out of this country, and the other police will check up what you are bringing. Both will be seen. You have to be checked up by two kinds of police when you are crossing from one country to another country. Likewise, at the time of passing, the conditions of life in this world will be pulling you in the outward direction towards objects of this world, due to the attachments you had earlier.

The love of body, the love of relatives, the love of wealth, the love of position, and various types of loves - they pull the mind back to this earth, and so you feel a sort of unhappiness as you know these have to be left behind. Then there is the pull from above, which tells you, as it were, ‘here your stay is finished; now you must come away’. That intermediate state through which one passes is said to be a kind of preparation for waking into another world altogether, which you call ordinarily, rebirth. Rebirth does not necessarily mean coming back to this world. It is an awakening in any realm whatsoever, according to the nature of your desires, the actions that you performed in this world.

Achievement and Resentment

Achievement creates, and resentment destroys. Which kind of world would you prefer to live in- a world of achievement or a world of resentment?

It is easy to be resentful of some one who has accomplished more than you. But what purpose does that resentment serve?

Instead of giving in to resentment, you can transform its energy into something that will actually do you some good. You can transform it into positive inspiration, positive thoughts and driving ambition.

Begin the day with gratitude- A day that begin with gratitude is a day that you will be able to fill with positive progress. When you are sincerely appreciative of where you are and what you have, you will greatly expand your own possibilities. Begin with thankful thought.

And connect yourself with the abundance that is all around you. There is always something for which you can be sincerely thankful. And the simple act of being thankful ignites a productive momentum in your world.

By focusing your thoughts on the positive aspects of your life, you cause their influence to grow. Be grateful, and your gratitude happily creates even more things in your life for which you can be grateful.

The appreciation for what you have gives more value to all that you are. The blessings you enjoy are blessings precisely because you see them as such. Tap into the great reservoir of real value that is already available to you. Live with gratitude, and you will create even more reasons to be thankful.

A thousand days spent in resentment will just make you old and dejected. A thousand days spent on achievement will create a rich and fulfilling life.

You were born to achieve and you have a strong desire to achieve. You’re fully capable of following that desire, and of creating great and wonderful achievements for your world.

If you feel the urge to be resentful, stop. Think about it, think about your own best interest, and choose achievement instead.

When my time comes

I have been thinking for a long time about what we do in our life…we spoil our health to accumulate money through out the whole life and the same money which we accumulated in our life is being used to cure our health at the end….

We spend a great part of our childhood studying. We start by being taught in school how to become a good citizen. And finally we get the diploma that will ensure in “The position we deserve.”

We participate to the unemployment, until we find a job, through hard tests; we are accepted in the world of work. We perform a good professional carrier filled with action lies and efforts, a lot of efforts, till we fell down exhausted. But we are great professionals with our valuable market share. This keeps on passing and we select new targets. We meet the sweet heart of our life, and promise a never ending love. Dammed night couldn’t close my eyes. After passionate hugs…. and here comes a baby into our home.

We keep on advancing in the society, trying to make the best of our time. We are the stars wherever we go. And we are finally RICH. But we need some more times, to triumph completely.

O God ! One day they tell they can do without you. By this time you are getting crazy. You feel collapse. You lost means of communication, you realize you are cut-off from everything, now times does not pass any longer, whereas you are loosing it. You realise you’ve been living in the fog. In search of a silly target, you become a walking ghost, trying to escape your enemies. You are the only one longing for the hour to pass, till your time comes. Upon this evaluation, an idea came to my mind on how to improve my life. I will take things easy, I will try to open my heart to my love, my better half and I will listen more to the ones surrounding me, I will save more time to spend it with my friends. I will try to travel more, Singing as I had done in my childhood, still I believe I will sing more; I will go more time to sea side, hill side. I will make my best to cook tasty food. I will join my friends warmth, a bit love more. I will be happier to get news from my friends, and achieve together common objectives. And I will continue to write my experiences in my blog till I am able to write.

I can’t be sure, but I believe it worth trying. “Well say what you want, but I am a nice man !” I will co-operate clean the world from nasty people. No harm from a glass more sip ! And I hope they won’t stop me, when my time comes. I do not know whether it is good for everybody, but I am sure that at least I will have had a wonderful time---which by the way is what counts more.

DON’T YOU THINK SO ?

Please have good care for your good friends. Show your friends how much you care.

A human body can bear only up to 45 Del (unit) of pain. But at the time of giving birth, a woman feels up to 57 Del of Pain. This is similar to 20 bones getting fractured at a time!!!! LOVE Your Mother... God couldn't be everywhere and therefore he made Mothers... The Most beautiful on this Earth……..Our best Critic…………Yet our stronger supporter…… MOTHER

God the Creator and Man Gods

Normal Human Beings who in this Kali Yuga the metal age of today find it difficult to live a Life full of moral and principles ... find the messages of Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads as mere texts to be read and devoured only by the 'so called’ learned priests of the Society. Today .. to achieve the status of a Swami Vivekananda would be enough ... What to say of attaining the status of a man Gods like Mahavir, Jesus Christ, Buddha or Prophet Mohammed.

All are after gaining material riches than earning "Punya" which alone is the "balance and net" carried forward to next Life. "How to make an ordinary mortal understand this truth", the Essence of all Sacred texts!

"Every God-realized soul must never think that "He is that". "He is that" only in the "Nirvikalpa Samadhi" stage & also the stage when he has imparted "Brahma-Jnana" to all and is leaving this body. At this stage also he may or not be considered equivalent to a "Human-God", for the simple reason that "As many Human Beings ... so many are the paths towards God, the Creator {applicable to Human Beings alone and not other jivas like insects, plants and animals ... for Mukti (liberation) by an "Atman" is only possible through the form of a Human Being}.

The invocation of messages from Mind (through Shruti) is done by realized Souls depending on their intellect and as all can never be at the same level at the same time ... like the voice invoked by an imported audio player can never match with the voice invoked by a locally assembled unit! In ‘He is That’ - ‘That’ denotes the status of a "man-God" (those powerful Human Beings who are true servants and representatives of God) and never "God-the creator". All individual Atmans shall remain individual until full purification (i.e. liberation of Atmans from further manifestation takes place & Atman is not further required to take a body). All collective purified Atmans are known as "God-the creator" i.e. the collective power of all purified "Atmans" is the power of "God" the creator. You a "purified Atman" are only a brick in the abode of "God-the creator".

When "Big Bang" occurs the abode of creator disintegrates. Due to the inherent power of evolution present in every atman soul it continues to take a body after body until it finally liberates. A time comes when all Atmans get purified & further manifestations cease to take place. Need for further manifestations gone ... the Cosmos collapses, to again become a concentrated mass not bigger than a cm and half in diameter. This concentrated mass re-explodes culminating in a Big Bang i.e. the birth of a new Kalpa, a new Cosmos all over again. This theory (i.e. the cycle of Kalpa) ... the origination and Pralaya shall go on forever.

You, a Human Being, are the highest in the process of Evolution, a step below "liberation from further manifestation". Realize this simple truth and thy shall be the richest of all for you now possess ... not Gold and Diamonds but "Brahma Jnana" ... the most potent and powerful possession of any jiva. You now have the eternal right to Forgive one and all ... your ‘Ego’ shall henceforth not clash for you have realized that riches lie not in accumulation of material wealth but gaining ‘Punya Karma". Forgive one and all without exception.. however big the crime committed or may seem to appear.

Never let "corrupt thoughts" take possession of you. The "field of thoughts" wherein germinates every thought is your only possession which differentiates one from all other types of living beings on planet Earth and which you have to cultivate as a farmer cultivates a barren plot of land. When you take birth on Mother Earth, you are unaware of the process of cultivation and even do not know that you own a "field" which you alone shall cultivate in future. In childhood, the Parents cultivate this field for you.

Good Parents give you a positive outlook of Life and the child grows up with a Sunny exposition, in a serene atmosphere looking ahead to a Life full of Virtues and Morals ... Not so Educated ones (Educated not by degrees earned in Universities) impart a rather negative outlook of Life ... Resulting in the child sometimes being brought up in a neglected atmosphere feeling deprived as the most down trodden inhabitant of the Society.

Lucky are those who take possession of their fields early in Life and cultivate it according to their liking. Such children make a mark in the Society for they are inherently aware of the fundamental Truths .. those which are to be followed by all ... without exception. The Eternal principles which are explained in Sacred texts of all Religions of the World ... Which can never be belittled nor condemned by any. These Truths act as the light posts which shine our fields day and night provided we have full Faith in them.

We go to Temples, Mosques and Churches ... why? What necessitates us to seek blessings from God now and then! Why do we at all want to recharge our moral batteries! Is it us, a Human Being or our "Atman" within which goes to such Religious places to communicate with the ‘mighty Lord’, the Omnipotent Creator of the Universe to seek his blessings so that We may in our Worldly pursuits advance ahead without hurdles! You may be a king or a labourer - all go to his abode irrespective of the family or caste one may belong to. Does this not bring to your mind ... ‘Atman’ within all is essentially of the same nature. Where lays the distinction? It is not God, the creator who distinguishes or discriminates but the ‘Ego-minded’ Human Beings who have set different standards for different beings.

Is it not easier to go to the house of God (there are no timings for going to a temple, mosque or a church) on Earth than the places for Spiritual minded people to stay, i.e; Ashrams and Math's of the so called Spiritual leaders of the Society. They desire the society to seek appointment with them ... Longer the Que., bigger shall be the fame in which floats their bloated ego.

You may expect pardon from ‘God, the creator’ by praying with a humble heart and asking God in true earnestness to be Forgiven for deeds committed knowingly or unknowingly. Can you expect justice from a Court whose hands are bound by the law books and the advocacy of a corrupt advocate! One who intuitively feels that injustice is being imposed on an innocent one due to non-availability of documented evidence and proofs or due to false evidence by the vested interests but, fails to render the right judgment for, he fears the falling of the axe of those higher and mightier than him.

We must never ever loose our trust in the system of God ... If we desire to live a happy and healthy Life!

Brahmaand Universe Cosmos

Brahmaand: brahmand stands for the total Creation existing ... perceptible by our senses, science and beyond all comprehension up to the last stretches of entity covered by evolution.

To envision the vast area covered by total Cosmos, we have to start from the level of a Human Being. Human beings imagine and live within a notion that earth is the end of all. Comparing the planet Earth with the size of Cosmos we ultimately realize the absolute truth ... planet earth forms part of a cluster of nine planets revolving around Sun, a small star. Millions of stars comprise a galaxy. Millions of Galaxies form one universe and thousands of universes constitute the entire structure the Brahmaand (the Cosmos)

Relatively insignificant but the ability to achieve the status of man god ... such is the capability inherent in all Human Beings. One may or may not be able to achieve the ultimate goal in one Life span of 70 - 80 years is but a matter of speculation and entirely dependent upon the resultant Karma of a being.

Brahmaand is considered to be without a boundary ... hence the saying by god realized Souls that the Ephemeral World is but a thought of God. All is Maya (ignorance). It is the ego within every being owing to which a Jivatma (soul + body) starts giving weightage to the physical part of the self. Understand the Cosmic truth and all would become clear.

Relatively speaking, Human Being is but a speck of dust in the vast Cosmos yet most powerful. Why not scan the latent powers and realized self within this Life!!

Be good to yourself

Trust yourself. You know what you want and need. Put yourself first. You can’t be anything for anybody else, unless you take care of yourself.

Let your feelings be known. They are important. Express your opinions. It’s good to hear yourself talk. Value your thinking. You do it well.

Take the time and space you need. Even if other people are wanting something from you. When you need something, don’t talk yourself out of it. Even if you can’t have it, it’s OK to need. When you are scared, let someone know. Isolating yourself when you’re scared makes it worse.

When you feel like running away, let yourself feel the scare. Think about what you fear will happen and decide what you need to do.

When you’re angry, let yourself feel the anger. Decide what you want to do. Just feel it, express it, or take some action.

When you’re sad, think about what would be comforting. When you’re hurt, tell the person who hurt you. Keeping it inside makes it grow.

When you have work to do and you don’t want to do it. Decide what really needs to be done and what can wait. When you want something from someone else, ask. You’ll be Okay if they say no. Asking is being true to yourself. When you need help, ask.

Trust people to say no if they don’t want to give. When people turn you down, it usually has to do with them, and not with you. Ask someone else for what you need.

When you need help, ask. Trust people to say no, if they don’t want to give when people turn you down, it usually has to do with them, and not with you. Ask someone else for what you need, when you feel alone; know there are people who want to be with you. Fantasize what it would be like to be with each of them. Decide if you want to make that happen.

When you feel anxious, let yourself know that in your head. You’ve moved into the future to something scary and your body has got up the energy for it.

Come back to the present, when you want to say something loving to someone, go ahead. Expressing your feeling is not a commitment. When someone yells at you, physically support yourself by relaxing into your chair or putting your feet firmly on the floor. Remember to breathe. Think about the message they trying to get across to you.

When you’re harassing yourself, stop. You do it when you need something figure out what you need and get it.

When everything seems wrong, you are overwhelmed and need some comforting. Ask for it. Afterwards, you can think about what you need to do. When you want to talk to someone new and are scared, breathe. Don’t start rehearsing, just plunge in. if it doesn’t go well. You can stop.

If you’re doing something you don’t like to do, (such as smoking or overeating), stop. Think about what you really want. If you’re stuck and can’t think clearly, talk out loud to someone. When you can’t think straight, stop thinking, feel! When you’re in need of love, reach out. There are people who love you. When you’re confused, it’s usually because you think you should do one thing and you want to do another. Dialogue with yourself or present both sides to a friend. When you feel harried, slow down. Deliberately slow your breathing, your speech, and your movements. When you have tears, cry. When you feel like crying and it’s not a safe place to dry, acknowledge your pain and promise yourself a good cry later. Keep your promise.

When everything seems grey, look for colour, if one of these rules seems wrong for you, talk about it with someone. Then, rewrite it so it fits you. Remember, be good to yourself!
