Raas Leela रास
लीला, the dance of celebration.
Tonight
is Sharad Poornima शरद पूर्णिमा. India celebrates this as the night
of Raas Leela रास लीला, the dance of celebration.
Whole
life is a meeting of contradictory forces. All happiness comes from the union
of the opposites. The clouds gathering. The rivers rushing to the sea. Seeds
sprouting. Bees humming. Or love between men and women … it is all a play,
dance, celebration.
Raas
रास is a meeting of opposite energies. It
is the cornerstone of all creation, of the universe. The whole play of creation
begins when energy becomes divided into two polar opposites - male female,
light dark, movement stillness. When opposites collide - conflict, hostility.
When the embrace - love, friendship.
Krishna
कृष्णा represents Purush पुरुष - male element in creation. Radha राधा, prakriti प्रकृति - feminine element in creation. It is
beyond the individual. They represent the mighty cosmic dance.
Raas
रास is not ordered or systematic. It is
wild, utterly free and spontaneous. Only an interplay of energies remains. Men
and women cease to be individuals, they move as pure energies. This dance of
male and female energies together brings deep contentment and bliss.
As
people, as individuals, Krishna कृष्णा and Radha राधा may no more be with us. But the moon,
the stars under which they danced together are still with us. So are the hills.
The earth. The sky. That were once so drunk on the bliss of the Raas रास. Those vibes of the maharaas महारास, continue to reach us. If, and when,
we open ourselves to it.
Wishing
us all a dive into the Maharaas महारास, again and again!
