Nirvana
निर्वाणा through the Potter’s Wheel
Pottery
is in line with the Divine. All creations made by hand are spiritual, since
they involve a certain degree of meditation and skill. Pottery is the only art
form that constitutes all the five elements our body is made of- water, fire,
earth, air and ether. It helps you find a harmony and inner peace.
When
you sit at the potter’s wheel, you are directly connected to Him. With your
eyes closed, the soft, moist ball of clay moving freely in your palms-your mind
and clay fully centred-you experience an unparalleled, soulful bliss.
Patience,
precision, persistence, detachment, determination and happiness are the virtues
that pottery enforces or teaches us and these are the very qualities required
for a balanced, content life, which leads you to that ultimate
happiness-nirvana निर्वाणा. As in pottery, there is a right time
and stage for everything, so it is in life. Things happen when they are meant
to happen; life takes it own course. You cannot expedite it. You cannot proceed
and progress unless you are focused. Similarly, you cannot create anything on
the potter’s wheel unless the ball of clay is fully centered on the wheel.
Pottery
is not only an art form but a therapy and a kind of meditation. It is a
catharsis, a way of making thoughts tangible and thus, a method of touching
your inner creative. Self and expressing it spontaneously in the real World.
Although, the result in pottery are elusive, as in life, the final product is
breathtakingly attractive and satisfying- just like attaining Nirvana निर्वाणा or Moksha मोक्ष.
So
go beyond the demands of everyday life and give yourself time and space to
connect to your inner Self and free your creativity, in to-day’s forced
multitasking environment, the feel of clay is like a breath of fresh air.
Breathe it.
