What
is woman
We
may (should) ask, how can a man be the glory of God? And, how can Woman be the
glory of Man? For some of us, it seems impossible, doesn't it? Remembering what
has happened. Closing your eyes and hearing those words again. Feeling the blows.
Hearing the cries. Crying the cries. And, we are to honour them? They are the
glory of God? This is impossible, within our humanity. It is God who gives us
the grace and strength to honour those who have earned dishonour, to give glory
to those who have earned shame. But, what of ourselves? As a man, do I uphold
the bright and holy glory of God? Does His image appear readily to others when
they look at me? And you as a woman: Does your behaviour bring the glory of God
to your man?
Few
or none of us are what we should be; that is certain. But, praise God, all of
us can begin to become what we should be. If we men will make a real effort to
honor God by reflecting His holy image and glory, and if the women in our lives
will take pleasure in being the most glorious part of their men's lives, our
relationships will change. Not for the better, but for the best. Only God knows
what could happen in our lives.
Yes,
I am a man, but I have known some women in my life. I had a mother. I have Two
living sisters, and one deceased. I had One wife. I have a terrific daughter,
and a wonderful granddaughters and also Grandgranddaughtres. I have nieces and
grand-nieces. I have girl cousins and aunts and great aunts. I had grandmother,
and mother-in-law. I've and had sisters-in-law
and a number of relationships with women -- some distant, some casual, some
close, and some closer. I have women friends, have had women friends, and
acquaintances, co-workers, teachers, neighbours, and on and on and on. In the
years of my life I have had opportunities to meet, to get to know, a
significant number of women in varying levels of relationships.
I
have never met a woman who is not special in her own way. I have met a lot of
men who seem to have no redeemable qualities, but I have never met a woman who
is not worth knowing, not valuable in one or more ways.
I
believe every woman has a special ability to sense and appreciate God in ways
most men cannot. I believe something is written on every woman's heart that
only God can see and know-- something that makes her valuable to the world in
general, and especially to those near her. I believe it is given to women to
love and trust God in special ways, an aspect of the spiritual nature of women
I cannot now understand, yet I know to be true. I believe every woman has
something valuable to share, and words that should be heard. I believe God
expects all men to treat all women with a dignity and respect and kind
attention above any he would give to any man. And, I believe every man will
have to answer to God for every time he does not do so. I mean that.
It
is a burden to my heart to see so many women who seem ignored by the world,
passed over in social matters, pushed into the corners of the world for
convenience's sake; so many who appear alone, in fact or in effect. Surely God
has a special place in His heart for these women, especially those who do not
know He loves them with a special love. And He does love you with a special
love. I hope you know that. I hope you feel the truth of that.
It
can be a hard thing to be a woman in today's world, even with our so-called
advanced social enlightenment. In times when you are weighted down with the
struggles of this world, when you feel like no one cares, and that no one
understands or appreciates you and what you are trying to do, remember this:
Eve was created last. She was created special. God did a personal, wonderful
thing when He made Woman. And you, like Eve, are Woman, a special, hand-made
and beloved creation of God.
