Purpose of mind-2

Purpose of mind is

a) Register information consciously or subconsciously

b) Process that information with already 'known' information, theories to produce knowledge

c) Lead on from knowledge to wisdom and

d) Finally to pure knowing, where no information exists, no knowledge is, all is a simple knowing!!

A mind could be a friend or it could be foe. Mind as such can be a hurdle to our spiritual growth. It is such a beautiful piece that it can help and become a vehicle to our spiritual growth. There are four basic layers to our being. The first is the body and it is a physical layer. The second is the mind and it is an intellectual layer. The third is the heart and it is an emotional layer. And the fourth is the soul (atman) itself. At the body level witnesses all our bodily actions. All these actions at a body level are emanating from our thoughts and emotions. From the body then we have to move to our mind and thoughts. Witness the thought layer that is made up of positive and negative thoughts. From the mind then move to the heart and emotions. Witness the emotional layer that is made up of positive and negative emotions. There are only two methods and there is no third method. Even if there are many methods all these many are classified in two. One is witnessing. Witnessing simply means passive observation. Just observation- Don't even tag or name the thoughts and emotions as positive or negative. Just observe without any judgement. In this very witnessing the thoughts and emotions will disappear slowly and we attain to stillness and silence. This is a state of No-mind or thoughtlessness. This state will grow and grow slowly. This will become like a clear and infinite sky above the clouds. The clouds below the sky are like the moving thoughts and emotions. This becomes our clear and spotless consciousness. The feeling and existential experience of this state is called knowing or realizing the self (atman). In the second method also the result is the same but the process is different. The second method can be followed this way. For every negative thought bring in a positive thought. And for every negative emotion bring in a positive emotion. In the process they will disappear and the result is the same ultimate state. This state brings in ultimate happiness!

The purpose of the mind is to reach the no-mind and the soul. The soul is a reservoir of infinite knowledge and intelligence. The purpose of the laptop (any small computer) is to reach the server (a big computer) which is a reservoir of infinite information. Similar is the purpose of the mind. Mind is a very small part in the whole process. But it is the only vehicle if rightly used. There is no other vehicle. Browser is the only vehicle to reach the server. But the small computer has to request the server. The server serves the request. But an aggressive mind cannot reach the no-mind. Only a humble mind has the possibility of reaching the no-mind and the soul. So our mind is bridge between the body and the soul. Meditation is the only method for this experience.

The purpose of the whole is to help the part to become the whole again. The purpose of the part is to dissolve in the whole to become the whole. What remains behind is only the whole. Except this whole there is nothing. When we experience this in that dissolution we become the whole. Only the whole speaks through us. We then only become the vehicle of the whole. This is destiny. Then I am for the first time in my life blessed and blessed. This is where Kabir the mystic poet says in his poem. He says that 'Niklatha Pane Khudko Lekin Khud Hi Kho Gaya'. A dew drop slips into the ocean; it merges into the ocean and becomes the ocean. The story of the mind is similar to this. It dissolves in the ocean of the consciousness. What is left behind is the pure consciousness. Feeling and experiencing this pure consciousness is knowing the soul or realizing the soul. This state is our true being.

Yes our mind is a hard nut to crack. It does not accept anything which is not like its belief it already nourishes. Cause is our ego. All our efforts will be to drive out our ego, which is false. It is ego that stands as a wall between our mind and the inner soul. To receive the message of our soul, we shall fight continually against our ego unless it is abolished. Then our mind will be soft like a sponge to absorb any message.

The mind is fluid; you can make anything out of it. How it is shaped simply depends on how it is influenced. If you look deeply, what you call your mind is really something you have borrowed from thousands of people around you. You have accumulated this mind in bits and pieces. Your mind is just your background – depending on the king of family you come from, your education and religion, the country or society you belong to and the world you’re living in.

The mind is necessary to survive in this world, but it will not take you to the truth. Doing experientially, not intellectually can only do this. Whatever you know intellectually does not know, it’s just a distortion. The intellect is just a survival tool, a limited aspect of your life. Modern man knows that survival is not enough, it is not fulfilling.

So if you want to go into deeper dimensions of life, first you need the necessary instruments. Right now you experience life with just sense organs-by seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling. With this you cannot know anything beyond the physical. If you want to measure the depth of the ocean, you cannot go with a foot scale. That’s what is happening with people when it comes to God, to divinity, to truth. People are approaching the greatest questions of life without the necessary instruments. So they jump to wrong conclusions.
