This unnatural fear may have risen from the fact that we often do not understand the awesome force of sexuality. It is true that intense desire actually blurs the mind or even creates confusion and a feeling of insecurity. The reason behind this sense of insecurity is the truth that intense desire also means letting of the ego- to be completely selfless, to seek other’s pleasure before achieving one’s climax and to seek total oneness with the significant other. But to be completely abandoned without a thought to another thing is something that is not easily possible for most people. Our desire to escape from its overwhelming intensity alone is what creates an antithetic view of sex where none actually exists.
Mystical Sex is the Sex elevated from the mundane onto a spiritual plane. A seemingly incongruous combination but, so only to our conditioned minds, which have been taught to regard sexual activity as something to be hidden, or frowned upon. Sexuality actually is the most intense of sensuous experience, because all the five senses are simultaneously involved in a sexual act. It is therefore the most direct experience to realise the power of the five senses and to understand the meaning of desire. Yes, it also then gives you the feel of what it is like to practice withdrawal of senses. But first let's talk of mystical sex. Sexual preparation, sexual activity and finally, the last phase of compel, which is the cause of our being. For these brief moments, the medley of thoughts that normally run through our minds simply stops.
What one achieves through sexuality is a very short- lived experience of spirituality. There are two paths from here on-
The first to extend the brief experience into a longer one through practice of pranayama प्राणायाम that is by developing single pointed ness that directs orgasmic energy towards our head, thereon to the solar plexus.
And the second path is to transcend the Sexual experiencing and channel the sexual energy elsewhere to creative works, to healing others, to heal our self, to meditate successfully and to experience this energy in all other areas without involving a sexual act.
This takes us to celibacy. Celibacy is not the killing of sexual energy; it is the channeling of this energy to other areas of our life. It is the transcending of sexual bodily pleasure derived from our senses on to the experience of reality - beyond the senses. It is to be able experience the beatitude we have felt in that of orgasmic moment- in us- by our self without a sexual act.
This is Brahmacharya ब्रह्मचार्या, a redirection of sexual energy towards a meditative experience or other spiritual experiences. It is the withdrawal of the mind and body from the senses. In the Vedic वैदिक tradition all human beings are governed by a fourfold structure which is
(a) External security, contentment (Astha) आस्था
(b) Fulfillment of our desires (Kama) काम
(c) Living according to the natural laws and (Dharma) धर्म
(d) Evolving towards ultimate freedom. (Moksha)
आस्था, Kama काम , Dharma धर्म and Moksha मोक्ष . A human being can live on all four simultaneously or choose to live on one or other. If his choice is the last that is moksha मोक्ष , mukti मुक्ति transcendence, then the yogic योगिक tradition prescribes a code of conduct-these are Yamas यम् and Niyamas नियम . The five Yamas यम् are-
(a) Truthfulness (b) Honesty (c) Non possessiveness (d) Non violence and very importantly(e) Brahmcharya ब्रह्मचार्य celibacy.
There is saying that “Man goes to heaven through the gate of Hell.”
The cause of most of the unhappiness on the earth is that man and woman have actually forgotten how to make love. This means that only the individual man or woman have any chance of starting to correct it. There can be no mass solution. The problem is too personal and too deep. Everybody has to do it for himself or she or it can not be done.
According to the Gita गीता , impulse is Vegam वेगम or force. Lord Krishna भगवान् कृष्ण says, "He who is able to endure here on earth, before he is liberated from the body, the force born of desire and passion, he is harmonised, he is a happy man". Impulse is a mighty force. It exerts influence on the mind. It is a force suddenly communicated to the mind.
Just as petrol or steam moves the engine, the instincts and impulses move this body. The instincts are the prime movers of all human activities. They give a push to the body and move the Indriyas इन्द्रियां to action. The instincts create habits. The instinctive impulses supply the driving power by which all mental activities are kept up. These impulses are mental forces. They operate through the mind and the intellect. They mould the life of a man. The mystery of life lies in them. The attraction towards women in men is born of Rajas राजस . That unknown attraction and happiness in their company is the seed of the sex impulse. This attraction, which is like a bubble in the beginning, later on assumes the form of a formidable, uncontrollable wave of strong passion or sexual appetite.
You must understand the psychological working of the sex impulse. When there are itches on the body, mere scratching of them is a pleasure. The sex impulse is only a nervous itching. The satisfaction of this impulse begets a delusive pleasure, but it has a positive effect on the spiritual well-being of the person.
What is the relationship of sex and spirituality? A strange combination it seems but one that evokes huge responses. Is there something called sacred sex! Or is celibacy the only path for the true seeker. It is ultimately a personal choice that people must make, not forgetting that the spiritual practice of celibacy was and is considered to be a profound even crucial aspect of spiritual life by the Christians, Buddhist बौद्ध and Hindus हिंदू alike.
For it is foolish to underestimate the overwhelming power that the sexual instinct possesses to create complex delusions and illusions! Understand and be aware of this power fully before accepting or rejecting it.
The truth is, for most of us on the spiritual path, esoteric questions such as these, as intriguing as they are, are really superfluous. Why? Because the greatest challenge for most of sexuality at least, is just not to make a mess of it, or as they say, create more karma (कर्म ). And if big gurus are apparently confused about the right relationship to sexuality what are we mere mortals supposed to do? Forget about the whole thing? Impossible…….
Face it directly and try to come to terms with it? Sounds good, but who has the courage and heroic spirit necessary to really look into the eye of the tiger of sexual desire without the whole world falling apart? You see, so many of us open-minded, freethinking characters really are squares when it comes to this particular mega-life issue. What does that mean? It means that we don’t want to look at the whole question too personally because, for most of us, sex is more important than God. The promise of perfect happiness and deep contentment that the sexual experience represents creates a whole universe of attachment and selfhood that is far too important to us to be questioned.
Many people tend to misinterpret whenever we speak each other or discuss about God and sexuality. This is such a loaded for most of us. And, as said earlier, it is very difficult to see clearly into this area of the human experience, especially when it relates to us. So what is needed at present…… the facts? Once again, the definition of spiritual freedom is freedom from attachment. Sex creates attachment that’s all there is to it. And this is why there is almost always an inherent conflict between the longing for inner freedom and the karmic कार्मिक consequences of the sexual / romantic experience. Therefore, the big question is: if enlightened freedom from attachment, then what are we all going to do about the relentless nature of sexual attraction?
I believe that if we want to be free, we can’t naively assume that there is a simple, ready-made answer to such a complex question. And if we are Sincere, we have to be willing to bear the burden of that complexity on our own shoulders and figure it out for ourselves.
In the end, if you want to be free, then all you need to know is that free means free from attachment. This simple fact transcends the relative matter of whether you are engaging in a sexual relationship or not. If you face this spiritual truth unflinchingly, then you will be looking into the heart of the matter. And this takes a lot more courage than blindly accepting someone else’s conclusion.
So we tend to view sex either in a positive light or in a negative light. But the truth is that the sexual force that is inside us is neutral and is multidimensional at the same time. It is intense, natural and healthy, and represents the power of creation itself. It is in truth the creative energy that is in it a divine and a spiritual force. For if this energy did not exist within us then we would not be able to replicate God’s an act of creation, the main stay of our existence on this planet.
Our ancients have said that it is this same cosmic energy that is present in living beings as the sex force. So Hindu हिंदू regarded this energy as sacred, something that is worthy of being worshipped, not fettered away. We also need to embrace the multidimensional nature of our sexual feelings. The human experience of the sexual instinct is never static, but it is ever changing. So it is physical, psychological, emotional and even spiritual. (That is opening of the third eye of Lord Shiva-भगवान् शिव Name given to the process, whereby the full potential of man’s Biophysical, mental, emotional energy released, integrated and focused. )
In the present century scientists began to recognize an odd connection between the pineal eye and sexuality. It was established that the organ is a gland not a vestigial eye and that it produce a hormone that was labeled molotonin, molotonin is produced by the action for a certain enzyme upon a chemical called serotonin.
The real mystery begins here. This chemical has been proved to have a great deal to do with evolution of species. The primates, Men, and apes have more serotonin than any other species. Which seems to be manufactured in the Pineal Eye. And one of its functions is to inhibit sexual Development and to increase intelligence. This seems to explain, why most intelligent human beings seems to be late developers sexually and why early developer are seldom. If ever remarkable for intelligence. Pineal Eye also called A Third Eyesays, "He who is able to endure here on earth, before he is liberated from the body, the force born of desire and passion, he is harmonised, he is a happy man". Impulse is a mighty force. It exerts influence on the mind. It is a force suddenly communicated to the mind.
