The law of karma, कर्म
It always follows you, you can hide from everyone, but you can not hide from your karma कर्म . The only option man have is to improve it.
The law of Karma कर्म based on the course effect relationship not only on the physical plane but also on the mental and normal planes. In physical phenomena, the cause and effect relationship can easily be demonstrated but in regard to Karma कर्म Theory the effect of action cannot be physically analyzed. The law of Karma कर्म operates through a series of births. Man has to suffer the consequences of his actions until he succeeds in regulating his actions by free knowledge and wisdom.
The Karma कर्म philosophy has not baffled people for centuries। The complexities of these phenomena have never been fully understood by many ancient civilisations nor will it ever be understood by the present.
The Law of Karma कर्म centers on the philosophy that as a man sows, so shall he reap. It is one of the major tenets of Hinduism हिंदुत्व and is an important part of the daily lives of Hindus हिंदू . Karma कर्म is born from desires and we are born from Karm कर्म Much effort is placed in obtaining objects of desire and the fruits of such desire are produced in the form of pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow.
The fruits of Karma कर्म cannot be reaped in one lifetime. One has to go through numerous cycles of births and deaths in order to reap all the fruits of their Karma कर्म , be it good or bad. Performance of good actions and noble deeds produces the Karmic कर्म fruit of joy, happiness and peace while; the performing of evil and bad deeds produces the fruit of sorrow, unhappiness and pain. The fruits of Karma कर्म not experienced in this lifetime are carried on to the next life so that the individual can get his full dues, whatever that may be। The deeds performed are what determine the character of the next existence.
Clearly it can be seen that the precepts of Karma कर्म is embedded in the science of reincarnation. One does not stop existing after death. The death process causes the soul to depart from one body into another and the benefits of one's past Karma कर्म continues until that soul achieves the supreme state of consciousness।
Whenever there is a cause an effect must be produced. In other words, karma कर्म means not only action but also result of an action. The consequences of action are not a separate thing. The causer of the action cannot be separated from the action. Behind a action , there are desires and thoughts , desires of object arises in the mind then one thinks of how the desire can be fulfilled, then exerts to posses the desire to be fulfilled. Desire and the action always go together. Thought of desire, how to fulfill the desire and the action to achieve the desire, these are the three threads that are the causes of the karm कर्म
The law of karma कर्म is one of the fundamental doctoring in Hinduism. As a man sow so shell he rips. This is the law of karma कर्म . If you do an evil action you will suffer from it. On the other hand, if you do a good action you will benefit form it. There is no power on the earth which can stop the result of karma कर्म from yielding its fruits। Every thought, every word every deed is as if were weighted on the scale of eternal justice. Hindu believes things on this universe do not happen accidentally of haphazardly. There is a certain definite connection between what is happening now, and the law of karma कर्म .
Every action produces 3 fold effects. It will give you an appropriate reward; will affect your character, leaves behind an impression in your mind. Just as a mango seed produces a mango tree and rice planted in the field produces a rice plant, wheat plant will result in wheat harvest, the karma कर्म produces an equivalent result good or bad according to your deed. If you do evil actions you will rip pain and suffering as your benefit. If you do good things you will rip pleasure and happiness. This is the basic law of karm कर्म
What ever you saw by your action comes back to you। Your actions of the past are responsible for your present condition your present action will shape will shape your future; there is nothing chaotic in this world. You will become good by good actions and bad by bad actions. Understand this law, and live wisely, have noble thoughts that will only bring you happiness.
Man suffers and enjoys the fruits of his past Karma कर्म then what part do planets play in this game? Do they blindly and mechanically indicate the current of human destines or is there any active agency on the part of the planets?
If a man loses his son, he suffers from his Karma कर्म , which might consists in his having caused a similar affliction to somebody in his previous birth and not because mars occupies the 5th house in the horoscope. The time of fruition also synchronized with the Dasa दशा indications.
In life there is a continuous struggle between destiny (Vidhi) विधि and free Will (Ichcha Shakti,) इच्छा शक्ति and at any time the resultant of these two operative forces determines one’s action.
In the ordinary man, free will (Ichcha Shakti,) इच्छा शक्ति is not very strong. His action in life will, therefore correspond to a very large extent, with the forecast given by his horoscope. But in the case of persons of great spiritual development, there will be some variation even though the general pattern will remain the same as indicated by the horoscope. In this world of relativity, neither fate nor free will can be supreme. It is some sort of conditional liberty which man enjoys.
Vedic वैदिक philosophy maintains that the sole purpose of human birth is to attain Moksa मोक्ष (liberation) from (Samsara) संसार (never ending cycle of birth and earth). All karma कर्म , good or bad, binds us to Samsara संसार . Even good karma कर्म binds us to material world because good karma कर्म has to be rewarded for which one must be reborn.
For liberation one must rid oneself altogether of the reaction to his karma कर्म by surrendering the results and agency of his actions to the supreme lord. Through karma कर्म one can shape one’s own material destiny and achieve life’s ultimate spiritual goal as well.
ASTROLOGY & KARMA कर्म are inter-related which we do not remember in this life and are untraceable in this birth. The result of our unknown action is what we call fate or “Adrishta.” अदृष्ट
Many people in this part of the world seem to imagine that the theory of Karma कर्म is based on fatalism and predestined necessity and that therefore it leaves no room for individual development. This is not a correct idea.
According to Hindu हिंदू Texts when one dies, his soul or life energy or soul which is enveloped in the Linga Sarira लिंग शरीर or a subtle sheath and invested with the sum total of good and bad Karma कर्म passes after sometime into another plane shaping of the gross body as a man castes of his own - out clothes and put on new one.
His re- birth then take place in a physical body corresponding with the deeds done by him in his previous life. The process of death and birth go on until Moksha मोक्ष or final liberation. The Karma कर्म is the result of our actions and our actions are due to our thoughts and hence it is man who creates his karma कर्म for it is the product of his thought.
Karma कर्म what we do, even that we think is also Karma कर्म . The span of existence in this world can be compared to a stay in rented premises, ready to vacate when demanded indicating that he may be asked to give up his life at any time. When being led to heaven or hell as the case may be, only the fruits of the pious acts or the consequences of his misdeeds will accompany him. Saints have hence pleaded that we should always follow the path of virtue and earn divine grace.
One among them has curiously remarked “Never talk with a dead man” a statement that seems to be a riddle because a corpse can never converse. The under lying significance is that a person who has wealth but does not spend it on charitable causes for all purposes ceases it exist.
Scriptures repeatedly say that we should spend for noble purposes. Attempts to accumulate beyond one’s requirements have always been ridiculed.
The first among the fundamental postulates of Hinduism points out that there should be some cause of every event – good or bad. That can be traced through self –endeavor. But there are also happenings, which baffle a human being, as no reason can be attributable to them. A boy may be studious but yet he fails in his examination, a puzzle indeed. For certain acts, no explanation can be provided at all. The mysterious ways of God cannot be interpreted. Yet in some other cases, a man might have contributed his labor sincerely, hoping to achieve what he desired but the outcome may be quite contrary to what he expected, here too, man will be dazed by the unexpected turn of events.
There are equally bewildering phenomena where from out of the same efforts, two exactly opposite result may flow. Two persons travel in a train, which meets with a derailment. One dies but the other survives. God’s dispensation is not understandable. Hence we are asked to submit to His will. The theory advanced for these diverse results is that they are based on one's past deeds. If a person has uphold the rules of morality and obeyed God’s dictates. He is bound to be rewarded likewise, evil deeds cannot go unpunished- to get reconciled to this theory the mind has to be duly conditioned.
The doctrine of destiny, how a dog gets special treatment in a rich man’s house, while the other of its tribe gets hit by stones in a public places. People than may ask. Why worships God if everything is pre-determined and pre-ordained.
Life is compared to an Ocean. A person may swim across it but is sure to be devoured by sharks. But he can have a safe voyage. If he gets into a ship one who aspires to get rid of worldly bondage can gain entry into this ‘Vessel’, which is Captained- by God. He should treat praise and abuse alike.
An example to elaborate the idea that man gets what he deserves, often cited, is- about a person directed to look into the placid waters in a huge well. The reflection of both- The Sun in the Sky and of the dilapidated well nearby was noticed; to indicate that goods and bad are inside a man. Each one experiences the consequences in accordance with the manner in which he functions. Worship of God and spiritual discipline will help an Esperanto to face difficulties and to remain un-effected.
The theory of Karma कर्म is the only scientific explanation for the diversities in the physical, mental and even economic conditions of human being if we are not prepared to accept the possibility of blind chance.
The power of mind over matter is the creative power of thought. Yad bhavam/ tab bhavth– you become what you think. The world is a manifestation of our inner state. The situations of our inner state, the situations we come across, the people we meet, the problems we confront, the life experiences we have, are all projections of what lie within. We create our reality we are the architects of our destiny. Perceived reality eventually becomes manifested reality. So you become what you think; you find what you perceive.
Thought has immense power: it can create, every time we perceive or harbor a thought containing a charge or emotion, the process of creation is set into motion; an arrow has been released into the ethereal planes, or the ‘thought sphere’. Once released, similar thoughts or arrows bundle together and when the threshold is reached, the “law of reciprocal action “is set in motion.
Karma कर्म can be classified as that pertaining to the individual, family, nation and all of humanity, when we ask: “Why is the world so bad?” The world so sees is a manifestation of our negative thoughts and emotions. Our negative charges not only manifest a painful situation in our life but also create a negative occurrence elsewhere in the world. Every time we see, heart or read violence, we create violence somewhere. Every individual, irrespective of his nationality, is responsible for the kind of world we live in. the violent world we see is an example of the collective karma कर्म of mankind. So individual transformation can mean global transformation.
Karma कर्म is a cosmic principle and God is cosmic intelligence. Karma कर्म is independent of God. If God were to judge man’s thought and action, then we are talking of reward and punishment.
By acting according to Shastric शास्त्रिक regulations, the Vedas वेद्द tell us, we generate Good karma कर्म that can elevate us in the material world by giving us wealth, prosperity and fame. And even secure for us a long stint in heaven to enjoy sensual pleasures far exceeding those one experiences on earth. But after our good Karma कर्म expires we have to return to earth once again. And even in heaven we still remain inmates in the prison that is this material world. Krishna कृष्ण says “from the highest planet in the material world down to the lowest, all are places of misery where repeated birth and death take place.” Similarly if we disregard spiritual injunctions, we create bad Karma कर्म .
Bad Karma कर्म brings suffering and misfortune such as poverty, birth in a degraded family, disease, ugly features and so forth, very bad karma कर्म can take us to the lower species of life such as animals, reptiles and insects, and even to lower hellish planets.
Unlike man-made laws, the law of karma कर्म is uncompromising and cannot be circumvented. It is also a fallacy to believe that suicide can end one’s miseries. Contrary to general belief, the law of karma कर्म is not fatalistic; it is actually optimistic and progressive because it promotes acceptance of one’s situation and it inspire edification. Once one understands how karma operates, he does not lament nor despair his suffering, rather, he tries to bear it bravely and also to reform his thoughts.
If one keeps in mind that every new action plants a new seed that will affect his future life he will be careful to avoid bad karma कर्म and create a future environment more conducive to spiritual progress and gradually achieve the ultimate goal of liberation. One becomes free from his karma कर्म only when one forsakes material desires and attachments otherwise he will continually create new and remain bound to this material existence.
The thought you released has now materialized into deed. If it was betrayal, you released your judgment. You will come across judgmental people, and if it was betrayal, you shall be betrayed; if it was hatred you will be hated and so on, one is to be blamed for this, and the world is reflecting your inner thoughts and feelings. You cannot be one thing inside and experience another reality outside. The two have to exist in synchronicity. When we ask… “Why did this happen to me? We do not perceive the relationship between thought and deed.
The Fate of a person in the present birth is already determined and decided by the good or bad acts of the past birth or births and so also the fate in the subsequent births is decided by the acts of the present birth.
The inequalities in life are eternal. There used to be kings, commanders and servants. The Karma कर्म theory indicates that any mental or physical action is called karma कर्म and it will bear its fruits. Newton has lain down that every action has a reaction. The law of karma कर्म also states that nothing happens by chance. The person gets the fruits of his karma कर्म according to his good and bad deeds performed in his previous birth or in this birth. A person, who is himself harvesting rice, may not be able to eat a bowl of rice because he may suffer from health problems. A lady, without any grace, gets married easily and a lady with all grace remains unmarried in spite best efforts of parents.
Guru Nanak गुरु नानक said that there is not even a single person who is not suffering from one or the other problem. (Nanak Dukhiya sab Samsar) नानक दुखिया सब संसार In our lives we see that some are enjoying heavenly bliss without much effort on their part. For some others, life is full of only thorns. We can divide people into different categories. The first category consists of those persons who do not involve themselves in remedial measures and in spite of that they are getting every thing in their lives. In this case Jupiter is posited in the ascendant or there is influence of Jupiter on the ascendant. Such persons must have donated generously in their earlier births and they are reaping the benefits in this birth. The second category consists of those persons who make marathon efforts and have undertaken remedial measures also. They obtain the desired results. In this case there is the influence of a weak Jupiter on the ascendant. Such persons had performed good deeds in their previous birth and are also sustaining them during this life also.
The third category is of those persons who have performed all types of astral remedies. In spite of that, they do not get any benefit on account of the bad deeds performed in their past births. In this case the ascendant or the Moon is devoid of the aspect of Jupiter or the lord of the ninth house. Such persons will have to suffer, in spite of their best efforts and also remedial measures.
The fourth category includes those persons who suffer but they do not believe in any type of remedial measures. In that case, there is influence of Saturn on the ascendant and on Jupiter. Saturn is miserly by nature and as such they do not want to spend on charity. The influence of Saturn does not allow them to come into contact with pious souls. Karma कर्म theory says that the soul enters life not as a fresh creation, but after a long spell of previous existence on earth and elsewhere.
Perhaps it is difficult because of the time lapse between of the two. From thoughts to deed, it may take a week, a month, a year, a decade or more. Constant review of our lives will help us see the connection. The speed of reciprocation depends upon the evolution of the individual. Sometimes reaching him threshold point could take a lifetime or more. If we do not find answers even after examining our lives in the light of these cosmic principles, only the theory of reincarnation can explain the rest.
